Calling all November 2009 Brides!

Recommended Posts

I did mine really early thinking about the same thing. I sent mine out in Jan, and had a deposit deadline of april 7th. Just the deposit not the entire trip to be paid for... it seriously helped in getting people to book their deposits anyways... now they have until Sept to pay off the rest of their entire trip... I wanted to give them as much notice as possible too...

I'm sending out my invites the end of the month and giving them until July 1st to reply, only because I'm sure if I make it later half of them will forget/put it off and never rsvp at all. I'm starting to think I should wait and send them out mid June and ask for rsvp by July 15th?

Do y'all think I'm sending them to soon??
I don't think you are sending them out too soon but is there any reason why you are giving them such short notice to reply since your wedding is in November? I think people need longer than that for a destination wedding if you can - they need to decide if they can go...I'm having my RSVP date 2 months before the wedding which is still early, but I feel like it is enough time for them to be able to decide if they can go....KWIM?

But also I am doing a cruise so it has to be paid off by 8.24.09. I sent out my invites in Feb in think with our booking deadline being 3.31.09 it has now been extended to 5.31.09... I just felt like with the economy the way it is I wanted ppl to have as much time as possible to pay on their trips... Am I wronghuh.gif
I'm sending my invites to everyone I sent my STD's to...as far as booking, mine are technically supposed to book by June but I know that is not going to happen...I feel like some people are just going to go direct instead of through our TA because June is very early - however it is Thanksgiving weekend so I guess it makes sense....I'm not sure if that answered your question??

Whew! I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to figure this out and I guess I'm not that off. I think I will probably stick with sending them out by the end of June and then have everyone RSVP by Sept 1.

I have to have my final count by Oct 5th, so that will give about a 30 day cushion for those slackers.

As far as who to send them out to, I'm pretty sure you're supposed to send invites to anyone you sent an STD to. What if they just are procrastinating but then don't get the formal invite and then don't book? Or do you mean to people who have told you they absolutely can't come.

I have a very close cousin who already had a trip planned for that weekend but I'm still sending her invites, b/c not doing so would feel to me like I'm not inviting her. Does that make sense? The cost is worth it to me to let her know that I wish she was coming.

Thanks ladies for all your responses. I feel much better now!

Hey Tracy, do you have a lot of guests who won't know if they can come until closer to the date, or did pretty much everyone get their deposits in on time?

Well I only have 16 guests total coming and then myself and my grooom, but no we gave everyone the deadline to have their deposits in and they were all paid on that date or a day later. My TA and I were really on top of things and sent out reminder emails the week before and a day before to remind them. We just added two people to make up the 16 and they haven't put their deposit down yet, but other than that everyone else did it on time. Made me feel pretty good knowing that all my guests were booked! I highly recommend a deposit route and a deadline if you can!

Yeah I found my dress at Beautiful Bride on Glenmore and Macleod there.. it is a Pattis dress and I absolutely love it! I had to buy it off the rack which worked out great, cause the dress price went up to 2300 something, and they let me have the originial price of 1582 if I could buy it off the rack so I did! But yeah they have some super nice dresses there.. I think you need an appointment.. just so you know!

Can you give us the link to that seller? Those are to cute, and I would love to use something like that afterward to keep my jewelery in!
The sellers name on etsy is alomasnest

I was thinking the same, I figured I'd put it on my dresser to use to put my jewelery in afterwards too. I also love that you can customize it to say whatever you want it to.

I do know what you mean, however in our case we're paying for almost everybody's plane tickets and hotel. The only two we're not paying for thus far are one of my FI brother's girlfriend and his other brother's two young children. Basically we are paying for everybody in the immediate family, short of the two children. We are sending out a few more invites for extended family and a few friends but the reason we did the RSVP date so soon is because we're booking our plane tickets in a group rating and getting a great deal. Since we've already got 16 people going we're paying a lower rate, if we get over 25 (i think , can't remember the exact #) then we'll get even more of a discount. Our travel agent has to have a final number to complete our bookings by mid July so that's where I came up with my date. :) I do agree it's kind of short notice, I really wish I'd got my invites out sooner.
