Missing Mom...

My Mom passed when I was 17 years old. It's been nearly 9 years now... she had a very rough life and passed away from cirrhosis of the liver. A very hard and sad way to go. When she died, I saw a butterfly fly away. That is my guiding spirit now.

Martin and I just got back from celebrating Mother's Day with his Mom. It all of a sudden hit us that we are leaving for our wedding 1 week from TUESDAY!!!

Mom, I miss you so much, and I pray that you will be there in spirit on our wedding day to see what a wonderful, caring and brilliant man I chose to spend the rest of my life with.

I'm in tears right now, but it's not all sad... just very emotional.

I decided the other day to make my something old a gift from my Grandma - she had my parents wedding bands melted down and remade into a pinkie ring for me. It doesn't fit but I have a pouch on my garter belt to hold my "sixpence". I hope I can find that ring and that it will fit into the pouch as well so that I can carry a part of my mom through the ceremony... cry.gif

Mom, I love you...

oh girl I love you! I had a rough day too. My dad died 10 years ago today. It was a rough mommas day. Its so hard this year cause all I can think about is I'm getting married in a couple months and he won't be there to walk me down the aisle. I've spent alot of time on the phone w/ my grandma (what a rough day to celebrate being a mother on the 10 yr anniversary of your youngest childs death), and my lil sis. She's always had a rough time when the anniversary comes around and she's preggers so its kinda her 1st mothers day.

I'm here for you girl! You're momma will be there!

aww jaime, i just totally cried reading this. *hugs* i think the ring on your garter belt will be a really sweet and personal way to carry her with you. i have to ask, are you incorporating butterflies in your wedding at all? i think it could be another really beautiful way to honor her memory without being too sad on your happy day. i know she will be smiling down upon your wedding, and as others have said, so very proud of the woman you've become!

Jaime and Jacilyn I am 150% sure that your parents will be with you on your wedding days. It is always the holidays, milestones and important events that hurt the most -- when you start to wish those we've lost were with us to share in those special moments. But I truly do think our loved ones are always looking down at us during those times, showering us with love, sunshine and all the happiness in the world*

hug2.gif For me it's the grandparents I miss so much ~ but in my heart I know they'll be there in spirit, making sure my day is even more special wink.gif
