I have a half sleeve of a buddha with a lotus flower. The flower represents going through life. A lotus flower starts in the muck water, and blossoms as it raises out of the water. Ive gone through some very difficult things in life and the flower represents that. The buddha brings in the serenity and strength to not go back to where I once was. And I just love the representation of buddist. If only everyone lived their lives a little bit under their practice..this world would be such a nicer place. To good onto others, and good will do unto you wink.gif

As I was finishing up my last seession, my dad passed a few days before. So we added his initials to it. Another hard thing I went through, and seeing those intials give me strength everyday. My dad hated tattoos, but loved this one. He went and got us matching buddha statues, and really wanted to come to my last session with me. He was looking really forward to the finish product. sad.gif

I have two. The first is a rose I got on my right ankle when I was seventeen. I had always wanted a rose tattoo, can't really say why, just that I wanted one.

The second one I got is the Chinese symbol for Angel, and is on my right shoulder. This one has some meaning to it. A friend of mine was killed by a drunk driver, and the tattoo is in memory of him (my angel on my shoulder). I got the rainbow colouring because he was gay, and had the most vibrant personality of anyone I have ever known:

My husband and I are still trying to come up with an idea for a tattoo to get together, but are having trouble finding something we both like and are willing to spend the money on. We know it will have an anchor (the intials J and T can be found in an anchor, and we cruised to our wedding, so dual imagery there), but after that we get stuck.

Melissa - That is a touching reason for your tattoo, love the meaning!

Jenn - Love both of your tattoos! I got a yellow rose on my shoulder since it's my favorite flower. I would love a little something on my lower back but DH is kind of against me getting more...not that I really give a crap since it's my body but I want him to be ok with it still. I love the meaning of the shoulder tattoo you have. That's beautiful.

Ok, so I totally remembered that in this wedding pic, you can see my tattoo (not very well though). Enjoy!

Love the tattoos ladies and the great stories to go along with them!

Here's the before and after picture of my 3rd tattoo which is on my inner left ankle. I had originally found this great picture of pisces symbol surrounded my stars (love stars and obviously a pisces). A few weeks after I got it, I was like, ugh, what's this "H" doing on my ankle surrounded by starts. After that, all I could see was this H. I wasn't happy at all. So I returned to my artist with a butterfly, and she happily covered it. I love this sooooo much more (even though it doesn't have much of a meaning).
