Don't tell your parents how much money his parents are contributing and vice versa. There will be bitterness and tension. Unless both of your parents are supercool in which case, consider yourself lucky!

I'm with Savannah -- neither of our parents are contributing anything more than paying for our respective wedding day attire, and paying for their own rooms/flights. Other than that, I guess we're lucky to be avoiding all potential money conflicts between parents, since we're picking up the tab for everything else! It's a hefty burden, but in the end we think it's the best way for us to go to avoid any "who contributed more" kinds of situations!

I can understand that it is a source of tension and I'm sorry you had a bad experience -- money matters can always be counted on for driving a wedge between even the most well-intentioned people!

Well my mom knows what my dad is contributing because I was venting to her (but thats another story)

Though my FI is so funny about money I dont know what his parents are giving us, he just says its for the honeymoon and what he buys hehe

We luckily haven't had any issues (yet)...but FI's parents demanded to know how much my parents were contributing before they told us how much they'd contribute. And even then, they decided to contribute 1/4 the amount. So I don't know why they cared so much...??
