Hi everyone,

My name is Jen and though I've been lurking for a few months now, I just joined the community. My fiance Matt and I really want a destination wedding, most likely in Mexico due to its budget friendliness and proximity (we live in California's Bay Area). However, we're having a hard time finding locations because it seems as though everything is either a huge, all-inclusive resort (not so much our style) or very expensive.

We're thinking of getting married sometime next May or June and I really look forward to sharing ideas with you all!

- Jen

Hello Jen. Welcome to the forum! Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa are definitely a becoming more popular destinations for weddings... there are many beautiful new, and established, boutique hotels as well as medium sized resort hotels. Troncones is near Zihua-Ixtapa but is much less developed and super laid back. I hope you have a successful planning experience and are able to find vendors you require to make your day amazing! Happy to help.

Hi Jen, welcome to the forum. You will find lots of useful information here to help you make decisions about location, venue, and everything else in between.

Like you, my fiance and I wanted to get married in Mexico but wanted to find a location that is intimate and not filled with mega-resorts. Have you considered any particular region in Mexico (baja, cabo, mayan riviera, etc) yet?
