Am I crazy?/What would you do?

My FI asked me yesterday if it would be ok for him and a few guys to go on a fishing trip on our wedding day (8am-1pm). Our wedding doesn't start until 5pm. I told him that I didn't think it was a good idea because it'll be just one more thing that I'll worry about (someone getting hurt, being late etc.)

They were also considering going the day before the wedding, but, I thought that might be rude to leave the resort for 5 hours the morning after 80 people came to be with him for his wedding.

Am I crazy to think this?

Hi Rhonda!

Day of the wedding I'm with you - I'd say NO WAY! Your FI and friends might be different than mine, but mine would come back late, drunk and sunburnt (bad for pics).

Day before the wedding - I'd say depends on when your guests are arriving...My FI and friends are going early in the morning for 4 or so hours. It is a planned excursion, all guys are invited and paying for themselves. I am supplying the sunscreen for the wedding party :)

Well, "crazy", i don't think so. As brides, we tend to get wrapped up in all the details and forget about the vacation part. I can see if you don't want him going on your wedding day (although I am not sure I would mind it), but I don't see the problem with them going the day before. However, this is a decision that you and FI should come to youselves. Is there another day that everyone is there that they can go? Cuz if so, there's the answer. But if the only choices are these 2 days, then the lesser of the two evils is def the day before the wedding.

I have to agree w/ the day of, although I wouldn't mind it. joe doesn't burn but he may be drunk! Our wedding is at 4. i think it's their way of relaxing. Marriage is a BIG deal to guys they don't really think about it like we do, they aren't planning everyday! but the day of is a big realization for them and all they want to do is go golfing or fishing. I'm all up for letting Joe do this. I'd rather have him relaxed and together for our wedding than a sweaty worked up mess. I don't think our guests would mind the guys going. But like said before this is really up to you guys. Is it a guided thing so they are guarnteed to be back around 1? If so I wouldn't worry so much about it. There's still 4 hours before the ceremony. Let the guys be guys IMHO

Who is all going? Is it him and the GM? If so then I would let him the day before to. Its a special time for him and his GM and your guests should understand that. We are having a welcome dinner cause they are all coming in at different times and I'm not going to sit in the lobby awaiting everyone. If see them as soon as they come in great! If not we'll see everyone at the welcome dinner

My first thought was no way, but then the more I thought about it I really wouldn't mind.

The day of my wedding I was off with my bridesmaids, enjoying spa treatments and didn't have any contact with my FI. I was so wrapped up in me, that I didn't really worry about him (which is odd for me cause I am a worrier). LOL.
