WOW....That is all I can say. I have busted my ass for the past year paying off credit cars and other misc crap that put me into debt and FI and I are paying CASH for our wedding and keeping it under 10k. I would be floored to have a 20k wedding. I wouldn't know what to use all that money on....wait...I'm sure i could find something. But still to have the nerve to ask strangers for money. And to pull the Karma card, that is just BS! I would rather donate my money to helpmepayformylife.com....tee hee. LOVE IT!

While I can't say that I would have the nerve to do something like this....I think it's hilarious! If people are actually donating money to her, well...good for her? I guess? It's almost like a "pay it forward" idea. Anyway, hopefully she gets the wedding of her dreams but it's doubtful that this will be the only way that she will get it. We'll get our dream wedding's through hard work, blood, sweat and tears and be the better for it! Lord knows nobody else is paying for mine!! My pockets are pretty much empty but I'm loving every minute of it!

i guess i'm just not as totally disgusted by this as the rest of you (mind you, i wouldn't want to be this chick's fiance!). i think she's banking on people being stupid enough to donate ... and hell, if they are that dumb that's their problem! think about it, she could have set up a sleazy webcam or something (with the intention of using proceeds for her wedding), and in my mind, that's far worse. at least here she's honest (that is, if she's not some nerd in his mom's basement, lol).

i am annoyed at her implication that a $20,000 wedding is sh*t. i mean, how many guests is she having that all she can get for 20 grand is a brunchhuh.gif?

at any rate, we are starting "helphartygotovegas" ... be sure to donate! LOL

I'm not totally disgusted (or surprised) by this girl but I'm not thrilled either. There are other ways to pay for a wedding rather than begging for money. DH and I opened a Line of Credit against our house (this was before I even knew I was getting married mind you, it was to put my Canada Student Loan on it since the LOC interest was wayyy cheaper) and we ended up using $10,000 of the LOC for the wedding. Sure, it's not the best way to go but we are slowly paying it off right now (a few hundred dollars here and there). Honestly, can't she just postpone her wedding until they have enough money saved up? There's nothing wrong with being engaged for a few years if you can't afford it right now.

It's sad when I think about it because a wedding is supposed to be about two people in love sharing their lives together. All I really cared about was marrying my FI. If she was only concerned about being married, why not go to a JOP and do a little wedding like that and then rather than a wedding, save up for a vow renewal to share in front of your friends and family when you have enough money (throw it just like an actual wedding for all I care). I guess she just isn't that patient or creative...

i'm in total agreement with you on this! every time i got down about stuff in the planning process, i reminded myself that at the end of the day, i will be married to the man i love. nothing else really matters.
