Low Carb?

Recommended Posts

Just wonder if anyone else is watching their carb intake?

I low carb'd a few years ago and lost about 40 pounds....since FI and have been together I have gained all that back plus more. sad.gif

So...I started low carbing again today! 15 months to go! smile159.gif

I just try to think of it as changing my eating habits not really a "diet."

I psych myself out like this and it works for me. The first couple of days it is the hardest...after a while I don't even crave bread (which I LOVE) or potatoes. I dont care for pasta, so that's good.

I plan to start working out next month when I am on vacation.

FI and I both have done this diet too before we met. We gained back the weight because we found every excuse under the sun to return to poor eating habits. We have some family events this week but plan on starting it again next week.

It really works and isn't unhealthy if it's done correctly. We stick to seafood and lean meat (turkey instead of beef, chicken instead of pork) and throw in a lot of veggies. We down the nutritional supplements to make up for what we miss with a larger ingestion of fruits. And throw in exercise and the weight just drops quickly.

The thing that always surprises me is how quickly my body adapts to a no-sugar/no-starch diet---- I fill up much more quickly and within a week or so, the sugar cravings are gone and it gets really easy to stick with it as long as I cook home-made meals at night...

I don't really care for red meat, so I eat tons of chicken. I don't like seafood either, unless you count fried shrimp, but that kinda defeats the point! rant.gif

I am starving right now...probably because I am up 2 hours later than I should be!

I love pasta and bread way too much for this diet. When I say I love bread, I mean whenever I go home to S.F. I buy loaves of fresh sourdough from the bakery and bring them back to L.A. with me . . . where is the bread and pasta diet? I could hang with that.

I've done lo carb before and I have to say after the first week or so you do fill up really quick, are less hungry, and have less cravings for sugar.

I liked lo carb because I LOVE sugar and doing this I couldn't have it, so it was a good restriction.

the only problem I have every time I do it, is that after about a week or I start to have trouble going to the bathroom. I think its because of the lack of fiber, does anyone have a solution for this?? (sorry if its TMI)

Other than that I like the lo carb diet because the pounds just melt away!

Alright, so my boyfriend does a "no carb" diet. The reason I say it that way, is because he eats plenty of carbs... but he's choosy. By not eating the main four (bread, potatoes, pasta, and the fourth one which I always forget) he can eat all of the other carbs that a normal person eats, but he stays very skinny. He's been doing this for about 8 years now and is in great shape. Because I live with him, I'm sort of forced to live a similar diet. I must say, after not eating pasta for two years, I can no longer eat it. It hurts my stomach really bad. It's just too much food.
