Camie- Thanks! My sister-in law talked to our WC in Miami and seemed to have worked out some details and hopefully we'll have a revised contract sometime this week! I'm excited to get married' date=' but we are having a short engagement, so planning is in super overdrive which makes me kinda panic! QUOTE']

Blaired, what items did your sister-in-law change on the contract? The group contract is definitely the way to go since that's the only way to get some of the extra amenities when you book a specific amount of rooms. (At least that's what I have been told.) My mom owns her own travel agency and has been helping with all my wedding plans at Moon Palace. I received my confirmation and contract today and need to sign and send it back, so that's why I was curious about what items you are having changed. My fiance is an attorney as well, and I haven't had an opportunity to review it with him today, so maybe he will notice the same things?? Good luck with all your planning and let me know if you need anything. We too are having a short engagement, just got engaged before Christmas and our wedding date is June 26, 09 and we are paying for everything on our own, which always makes decisions a little more difficult! :)

Apostille Question......

I obtained a copy of my certified birth certificate from the state and sent it in to obtain the apostille. When I look at my birth certificate, I see that it does not include my parents information. From what I have read, it appears that I can obtain a "Full" birth certificate that would include my parents information. The birth number would be the same on each report, but I am wondering if Palace Resorts requires a "Full" birth certificate with the parents infromation. I sent a scan of my reports to my wc, but have not heard back from her! Does anyone know if I need the "Full" copy with an apostille? I want to make sure that we have no problems with the documents when we arrive in Mexico. Does anyone know how much it's going to cost to have the documents translated at the resort?

LauraandMatt, I'm not sure...but I feel like I read somewhere that it needed to be a full birth certificate. Let me see if I can find it...I can't. Hopefully your wc gets back to you soon...or maybe you could call! I think I probably would...that wouldn't be something I could sit on very long without getting anxious.

Actually...I just noticed that you're from Chicago, so I had my fiance check his, and he has the same short form you do. LOL. Looks like I'll be looking into this too, but he's already gotten his apostille. I read on the IL website that there are three types of copies you can get. Who does that!? Crap, now I'm worried. If you find out the answer will you post it? I'll do the same.

I had another question though...kinda silly. But looking at these posts about vague-ness in the contract...what exactly does the free private function if you book 20+ rooms entail? The room and a sit down dinner? Just the room?

Also, I was planning on doing a welcome brunch in the morning...and I was thinking of doing it out on a terrace with just some fruit trays and juices. Does anyone have any idea if they would do that or how it would be charged?

Hi Ladies,

I was looking for a bit of advice from anyone who's been to the Moon Palace before. We leave for our wedding in 2 1/2 weeks (yikes!) and I want to put together a little welcome letter that I'll send to our guests about a week before we leave. I was going to include 'useful information', for instance that you should bring biodegradable sunscreen, and how to book a airport transfer to the hotel, but I'm wondering what other kinds of things I should mention? Does anyone know if it's hard to get into the restaurants so you should make your reservations right away, or where you can go to see the nightly shows, etc., etc.? It's hard doing this having never been to the resort. If anyone has input, I would be so grateful!!

Well I got word back from MP. They have the date I want but not the time. I have sent them another e-mail asking for the time I would like on diff. days. I am thinking about just calling them but donâ€t want to be too pushy this early in the game.

Ok here are my questions for the day:

1. To veil or not to veil? I have a veil that I bought b4 I knew I would be getting married in Mexico with blowing winds. Are you ladies doing veils? It seems like they look great in some videos and pictures and in others the brides are doing all they can to keep them out of their faces. I have found someone that does beautiful bird cages vales. I was thinking about doing one of them but I am still on the fence.

2. Have you seen the beach at MP b4? I have read some reviews on tripadvisor and it seems that it is not the best. Are you concerned about this?

3. Bug bites…I have also read some reviews from people that have gotten really really bad bug bites. They are not sure if itâ€s sand flees or bed bugs but have all said it was painful. We have a lot of older people attending the wedding and I am now concerned for them. I can take a few days of itching but I would feel bad for my guest. Do you know anything about this or have experience with it?

4. Photogs….if you have been married at MP and just used their photography package were you happy with it? I am really trying to keep the cost down and this would be nice if I didnâ€t need to bring someone in from outside.

5. What package are you doing? If you are doing the free package what do you plan on adding if anything?

Thank you sooooo much for reading this and sharing your knowledge and thoughts! You gals are great!!!

hi nicole...i'm going to answer your questions best i can! :

1. I won't be wearing a veil - main reason isn't the weather, but it was one of the reasons! I have midlength curly hair, and would prefer to do something nice with this, and maybe put a flower in it.

2. I've seen pictures of the beach at mp, and many past guests on this forum have assured us all its not as bad as many make out on trip advisor. They have big trucks remove the seaweed everyday...it will still be gorgeous!

3. I've not heard anything about the bites - would be interesting to find out more....

4. Betsy on this forum used the photographer at mp and her photos are really lovely. If you do a search you'll find them. We are getting an outside photographer, for many reasons. Our guests are flying all the way from scotland, so we want to have amazing photos from the full day. We also want a ttd session.

5. We are going for the free package...and going to add on the horse and carriage for us going to the gazebo, the cake will probably be from mp, we are going to source artificial flowers...worths out cheaper...then we will add on the cocktail hour and reception!

hope this helps, even a little! cheesy.gif

It wasn' hard for us to get into any restaurants, but we went in May and again in June. I don't think they take reservations anyway. You may want to mention that a few of the restaurants have a dress code (long pants, collard shirt). You can also let them know that there is an entertainment schedule for the week at the check-in counter (usually off to the side where you don't notice them right away). Hope this helps :)
