Moon Palace 2008 & 2009 Brides - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I just got engaged, and my FI and I are planning a wedding at Moon Palace for March 30, 2009! I have read up a little bit on the FAQs and etc.

You can bring an outside photographer, but like pp said they have to be a guest at the resort. This still makes me nervous. Before I pay for my photographer I am going to double check with the on-site coordinator about having a friend/guest photograph the wedding. Same with our videographer! I would hate to have paid for them to travel to MX then get flack about them covering our wedding!!

I think regarding private functions, there is only a surcharge if it is a Beach set up. They don't specify indoors vs. outdoors.

I think the ipod/speaker rentals come with lights. Somewhere I saw the price range at ~$600 for rental.

A dinner reservation at a select restaurant is included with your wedding package. You can use this as a welcome or farewell dinner! We are setting up some group events for our guests to participate in. Palace Resorts book their tours through Elite Tours, so we found their site online and are booking directly through them for some "chartered" events such as deep sea fishing and catamaran rentals.

Also I have been to Moon Palace and a few of the other sister resorts quite a few times. My general knowledge of the resort is pretty good if anyone has any questions. Having said that, my MP wedding knowledge is very much lacking!!!

Hope this helps!

Morning serenah, just thought i'd attach these documents for you. They include:

pictures of all the areas you can get married

pictures of all the private function areas

prices for the private function and cocktail hour

There is definitely a charge for the private functions, whether inside or outside - the way moon palace see it, is they have included a dinner option with the meal at the restaurant.

Hope this helps

Iâ€m sorry, I am sure this has been asked b4 but I was wondering why you have selected Moon Palace? I am still trying to choose a location for our low key, low budget wedding and this is one of our selections. Could you share why you chose this location…..hopefully your input would guide me in the right direction.

THANK YOU!!!

hi kennynicole - I chose mp because of everything they offer....the horse and carriage, gazebo, outdoor reception....but mostly because the resort is soo big! i don't know about anyone else, but we have 3 sets of in-law coming, so the last thing we need is them all bumping into each other all the time - its probably gonna be bad enough them attending the wedding together! lol so at least with mp being so big, we can request each family gets put in different parts of the hotel!

Also, we love that included in the price of mp is the palace passport - it will save us a small fortune on excursions seen as they are included in the price of our stay! great! also...13 restaurants?! waw!! and finally, before i turn into a sales rep for mp, the double jacuzzi!!woo hoo

I chose MP because I have been there a couple of times already and LOVE IT! I know our guests will love it too. There is so much to do for EVERYONE and it is so big that you never have to leave the resort. You don't get bored with the same old scene like at other resorts and the restaurants are great. They have great gyms on site, shops, hair salons, miniature golf, etc. Another good thing about it being so large is that there is a serene quiet side for people who want to relax by the infinity pools and not be bothered (Grand Side), a busy fun side (Sunrise Side) with water activities for adults or water play area for kids if you have families traveling with you or an area that is kind of in the middle of those two - Nizik, where most of the wedding gazebos are.

I thought I would just pop in to ask a quick question - does the cake cutting have to take place immediately after the ceremony? From most of the pics I've seen, the cake has been cut at the gazebo. Can you make arrangements to have the cake cut at the reception?

You can choose to cut your cake anywhere. You just need to tell your WC when you have your final meeting with her once you are there. They will deliver the cake to your reception, restaurant, whatever you want. I chose the gazebo because of the outdoor lighting, because I wanted pictures in the gazebo with the awesome ocean background, and because I did not pay for an additional photographer. For that reason I took advantage of the fact that the photographer was there and that way I would have professional pictures of us with the cake. If you're hiring your own photographer, and he/she will be following you all day, then definitely save the cake for later =)

Kennynicole-

I chose MP because I have been their several times and am real comfortable with the resort (where things are-where to go etc). It is great because of its size.... you can find some real intimate and quiet areas, as opposed to smaller resorts. Since it is not on the main hotel strip It does'nt usually cater to the spring break crowd either, which was a plus for us. They offer a ton of amenities. You can stay on-site for a week, never leave the resort and you still wouldn't have done everything they offer there! The rooms are beautiful- lcds, and double jacuzzis, awesome showers, service is amazing-everyone is so nice and very willing to help, The palace passport will also save you a lot in terms of excursions/golf etc. The new golf/spa side is lovely for some quite time. Nobody is ever by the pool on that side, and the Italian restaurant on that side is wonderful! Last time I visited, the Grand side was being built- so no info on that just yet! But if anyone has info on it I would love it! It looked nice when they were building it- Is the lobby finished for that side?

Hey KennyNicole, I chose the MP for all the same reasons. I've never been there, but since we've finalized, we've randomly met like three couples who have been married there and thought the world of it. One couple even let us borrow their wedding DVD! Last summer we went to a DW in Jamaica and stayed at one of the Sandals resorts, and after 2 days we had done everything and been to all the restaurants and were ready to leave. We didn't want our guests to have that feeling, so we went with the MP.

Karla, are the resort photographers able to take pictures outside of the ceremony? Do you know if they will do getting ready pictures or reception pictures as well?
