Mommies to be check in

Argh...Martha...that sucks about your appt.!! I sometimes feel hurried too, but I always start talking slow and say something like, I know there was something else I needed to ask you.....then he will stop and wait to see what it was. That's gives me the time to make him sit down so I can actually talk to him. It usually always works. And also, write ALL your questions down and tell the nurse you have questions for the doc - not her. I agree with Karma on this one.

I'm having my Strep B test done next week. I will be 34 weeks. Now I'm all worried that it's too early.

Karma - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It sucks that you take care of yourself for the entire 10 months just for your doc to F-up and do something too early and cause issues with your child. I'm telling my doc next week about your friend and ask him if we can put it off another week.

I've been feeling fine. I'm getting all the aches and pains though and I hate it. My back hurts all day and towards the end of the day I get a lot of pressure in my vajayjay. I don't like that at all. I was having a contraction last night and was kinda moaning and doing my breathing and James was like, "what are you doing.....stop being a baby..." uuummmm hello.....are you going to tell me that when I'm tryng to have your son?? he was just kidding and laughed and said no, but still! I was trying to get through the pain and he had his silly little comment. This is why I told him he had to be a "good adult coach" if he was going to be the only one in the room....argh!

Thanks for the kind thoughts for my friends baby girls. It is pretty scary though and until it happened to her wasn't anything that I had even thought about. Now I'm completely freaked out about it.

I just looked it up and found this Group B Strep Infection (GBS) : American Pregnancy Association

Quote:
This screening is performed between the 35th and 37th week of pregnancy (anytime other than this time will not be significant to show if a woman is carrying GBS during the time of her delivery).

Lisa- I know what you mean about the aches and pains and the pressure. It is starting to get bad for me. I wake up a few times in the middle of the night moaning too. The BH are starting to get strong and sometimes a tad bit painful, especially if I have to pee. I've been having them since 20 weeks so I'm pretty much ready to be done with them! I would have smacked Steve if he said that, kidding or not! LOL.

Karma, I have been doing a lot of reading on GBS and everything says 35-37 weeks...why would my doctor test me 8-10 weeks earlyhuh.gif? Doesn't make sense! Surely he knows when to do it? I will be discussing this with him next week.

I haven't had any BH...that I know of anyhow. It's making me feel like Noah is going to come late or something. Although I know not all women get them....

We had our first birthing class tonight. We liked it. Jay learned a lot... I think he thought it was going to be boring, but he actually paid attention. Next week we learn massage techniques for our coaches to do on us. Woot! :)

Martha - just feel lucky you are not having BH - they aren't fun and I've heard everyone does not get them. The birth classes are fun for us too. We take our last one next week. I feel so much better about everything now and so does James.

o.k., girls - my pants were not fitting very well yesterday. The waist band was not staying up and kept rolling down more than normal so I decided to take another pic (which i'm going to do every week now) and I'm pretty sure I've dropped AND I've grown SO much in the last week - holy crap!!

Karma - I am so sorry to hear about your friend's baby. They are in my prayers.

Martha - I think you definitely need to tell your doctor that you want to be tested again. (BTW - I never heard of that test, so thanks for all of you for bringing it up.)

Lisa - You look adorable and you definitely look like you dropped.

Lizz- Thanks for the prayers and thoughts.

Martha- It completely blows my mind too, why he would do it so early. The only thing I could even think of is that he does the test twice and will do it again in the few weeks. Defiantly let us know what he says next week.

About the BH, I don't remember having them at all with my first and I still had cervical changes pretty early. So I would count yourself as one of the lucky ones! :-)

Lisa- Your belly is so cute! I love the progression pics. It really shows how far you have come. I agree with Lizz it does look like you have dropped.

I was going to ask the birthing class teacher about the test, but I do't know if she would really know? She is an RN, so she might?

I am going to mention it on Tuesday and hope I don't offend him. I need to be tested again!!!

Lisa, you have definitely dropped! So cute! I am so mad I didn't take pictures like you did! I could still start now, but still...what a slacker I am!

Thanks girls!! Does it mean anything when you drop? I guess I can look it up.

Martha - I would ask the RN at your class. She would probably know - won't hurt. And I would just ask your doc again next week. This is YOUR baby - not his!! You want to make sure your baby is safe during delivery. You can definitely word it so it's not offensive.

Okay, now I am mad.

I just called and spoke to the nurse at my OBs office. She says that he prefers to test earlier and that they have had other women ask why they were tested so early also.

The nurse says being tested at 26 weeks is okay. I told her that everything I read says 35-37 weeks and she says 26 is fine.

Ummm. NOT what I wanted to hear.

I am still going to ask him about it on Tuesday, but WTH?

Lisa, the baby dropping I think just means that he is positioning himself for delivery! WOoot!
