Where we live now is sort of boring. It's mostly houses and houses turned into apartments, most of which are owned by elderly couples and rented out. Howard Hughes got his start here and the area grew out of the post WWII aviation boom and the older architecture reflects that era. I think the oldest homes date to the late 30's/early 40's which is very new compared to where some of you live. It's close to LAX as well, if you look south you can see the planes come in and there is a stretch of beach where the planes pass overhead while taking off - pretty crazy because they are really low and loud! There are tons of palm trees and green grass everywhere. The neighbors are mostly quiet...like they could be dead in their apartments and we wouldn't know. Almost everyone drives fancy cars which is annoying because they all look the same. There are lots of gas stations too.

 

At one corner there is a shopping center with grocery, Chuck E. Cheese, a few restaurants, and a pet groomer. Our corner diner you would recognize as the one in Pulp Fiction and a few other movies. It is well studied as one of the last left in L.A. of it's era and they make some mean chicken and waffles. Umm...there are the usual fast food chains and some cool local spots. The Starbucks and adjacent Magic Johnson Fridays on the corner (TGI Fridays, he owns that and the Starbucks) hold heated chess tournaments daily outside & there are always crowds watching. You could have no car in this neighborhood and get along just fine.

 

Within a 5-10 minute drive from home is all kinds of cooler stuff like the beach, marina, parks, movie studios, malls, etc. I work like less than 1 mile from home and my job is on a promenade, like an outdoor mall type place where one side is all tall buildings and the other is dining/shopping. Most of the floors in my building are the division of Universal that makes video games and the studio where people come to record voices. Next door is Univison (Spanish station). They film movies in front of my job year round but I have yet to see it in anything except the sequel to Get Shorty (forget the name?) They just built the Clippers training facility around the corner. That's all I got

I live in East Dallas in a Cliff May home. Which is convenient to Downtown and the Arboretum and White Rock lake are only 5 minutes away. Which we love walking around the lake. One thing I can say about the neighborhood is that it has the largest congregation of Cliff May homes in the area, back in the 90s it was discovered that Cliff May not only designed in California for also in Texas. Kinda fun!

In my words: It is total midwest living. We live in a new contruction area. All the homes are new. We had this house built 3 years ago. Our houses sit 15ft from each other. We live on a court with all late 20's early 30's. Most of us new each other before we moved in. So we have lots of fun on our court. We usually sit out in the summer watch the kids play and have a few cocktails.

I live in a place called Sunderland that fights with the next City which is 15 miles away called Newcastle lol and its all over football!!! We have to have police on the trains and buses to stop the lunatics braying each other lol

 

Where I live is really boring and v quiet but one of the better areas lol I've lived in this house since I was 9!! apart from 2 years when I got married but I try to discount that lmfao Dad nicknamed the neighbours and I've no idea what their proper names are lol

 

We have the Gas man (who is nosey and a PITA), the slaughterman (he used to have a butchers shop lol) they are proper weird don't answer the door and stuff lol oh and rent boy!! he appeared with a strange woman that couldn't speak english so we are guessing he bought her off the internet lmao

 

Like I said v boring apart from town on a weekend when its piss up central and people get wasted and do horrible stuff lol

I live in Stephenville Texas. Home of hard core highschool football and UFO's. We recently made worldwide news by a huge UFO sighting. It happend on FI birthday in Jan. It was then made into a documentary on the History channel. It's a pretty big deal around here and has been recently confirmed through the UFO investigators?? Right after it happened (please remember this is a very small town where everyone knows everyone) a bunch of people dressed like aliens and ran around down at our courthouse. We have a beloved statue of a cow on the square her name is Moola. Someone climbed up and put a foil receptor on her head LMAO Oh also... I live in a DRY COUNTY!!! NO beer at all!! I have to drive twenty minutes for anything.

Stephenville is named after John M. Stephen, who settled there in 1854 and donated the land for the townsite laid out by George B. Erath when the county was organized in 1856. In the first two years of its settlement, the townsite was successful and by 1858 the population reached 776. However the townsite was located in Comanche territory and raids were common. Also the hardships of the civil war forced citizens to leave. The population declined until 1871 when it started to climb as Stephenville became an agriculture and livestock center. Coal mining also became important to the area in 1886 and was a major source of economy for the next thirty years.

Stephenville was incorporated in 1889 when the Fort Worth and Rio Grande Railway arrived. In the 1890s, many of the buildings around the town square were built, Tarleton State University opened, and the communities two newspapers merged to become the Empire-Tribune, which is still in existence. In the 20th century industry became an important part of Stephenville, and the population has steadily increased since the 1920s.

On January 8, 2008, Stephenville gained national media attention when dozens and later hundreds of residents reported observations of unidentified flying objects. According to reports, residents observed several types of UFOs, the descriptions ranging from triangular looking craft to discs. Several residents described the crafts as the size of a football field, while others said they were nearly a mile long.[5] Some observers reported military aircraft pursuing the objects.[6]

CNN's Larry King covered the story in the days following the incident, and according to Steve Allen, a private pilot who witnessed the UFO, the object was travelling at a high rate of speed which supposedly reached 3,000 feet in the air. Allen said it was "About a half a mile wide and about a mile long. It was humongous, whatever it was."[7] The History Channel show, UFO Hunters did an investigation on the UFO sightings.

On January 23, after initially denying that aircraft were operating in the area, the US Air Force said they were conducting training flights in the Stephenville area that involved 10 fighter jets.[8] The Air Force said they were merely F-16 Fighting Falcon jets.But was later found that no radars in the area detected any fighter jets, and there were none on the testing schedule. Angelia Joiner, who during this period was the Stephenville Empire-Tribune reporter covering the story, left the paper because they ceased covering the topic.[9] Washington Post blogger Emil Steiner reported that her termination may have been related to pressure from the Stephenville town fathers. [10] MUFON has released reports about the UFO incident here. The report alleged that a UFO had flown over the Bush's Crawford Ranch.[11] The other MUFON report is a radar related report on this matter.[12]

My actual neighborhood- I live in a little residential area right outside of the city limits. It's called Heritage Hills. It is the "in place" to live right now. It's all doctors and lawyers and business owners, then Ryan and I lol. I really love it and take morning and evening walks. It's like pleasantville. Everyone is out watering their lawns and talk to you with a fake smile on their face lol. It's kinda creepy, OH well, I love my house.

I live in a town called Rockford, IL, home of the great band Cheap Trick (no they are not from Chicago...they are from Rockford.) We are also the home of Aiden Quinn (second rate film actor...usually never gets a lead role.) Well, lets see...we have the highest crime rate per capita in Illinois. We have about 150000 people in Rockford. Im on a corner lot, so I have a bunch of nabors. One of my nabors lets their grass and weeds get way too long. Another has the police at her house at least once per week. Her son was arrested last year for selling a gun to an undercover cop. Yeah, he's out of prison already and now selling dope out of the home. How do I know this, because I watch him to the hand to hand transactions. Another nabor of mine was arrested for Armed Robbery about a month ago. He is currently pending trial. And my last nabors are great...Bob and Ellen. They are a holy family. Bob is a preacher, and they homeschooled their children. They are a great family and very musically talented.

 

Every morning, I am waken up (and annoyed the rest of the day) because I live on a main thoroughfare and have people with loud sound amplification systems bumping their music up and down my street. I cant tell you how thrilled I am to live in this neighborhood and city. Boo hoo

Yeah but Cheap Trick are fab lol oh I forgot Dave Stewart from the Eurythmics is from Sunderland lol actually now i think about it quite a few famous singers etc are from here or round about.
