I don't mean to be a downer, but I was just reading in, I think it was Business Weekly, but it was some business magazine I found while at the gym this past week that the cost of flights would be increasing. Not only due to the cost of fuel, but because of the new Delta/Northwest Merger. Business Weekly said not to be surprised if you start seeing more of these mergers happen, and with these mergers, a higher ticket price.

I don't think it's really surprising that the costs will continue to go up. It seems that has been the trend for the last few years. Totally sucks though! People will still vacation though- just like they will still drive even with gas at nearly $4 a gallon in most places.

Prices will undoubtedly be going up by then. It's the nature of the beast.

One thing you can do is to find a website like kayak.com that will allow you to track airfare trends to a certain location and alert you to when fares are super low or rising quickly. That way you can get in on any great deals or book quickly if the prices look like they are going to be going up for a while.

No problem! There are a couple more like kayak, but I just can't think of them at the moment. Someone else will probably chime in with them.
