Anyone thinking about The Royal Cancun?

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Well, I had originally started planning at EDR. But with a lot of different age ranges (grandparents included), logisitics, troubles with Lomas, etc.... I decided to go with a different resort. So, I started looking in Cancun. I found The Royal Cancun (a Real Resort). However, it is so new that I can't find ANY pictures on the internet anyhwere of any weddings that have taken place there. I am in contact with the WC and they have sent me table setups and a few pictures from events they have done. Has anyone been to a wedding here, or any other Real resort, planning a wedding at The Royal Cancun, interested in the property, or had a wedding at The Royal Playa del Carmen? I could really use some help!

Thanks!pinkie.gif

I have been to the Royal in PDC twice. It is soooo beautiful - it's what made us think about having a DW in the first place. Do you have kids coming too? I know the one in Playa doesn't allow kids, not sure if the one in Cancun does. I really haven't heard anything about the Royal in Cancun yet but the one in Playa is so fabulous I would expect something similar.

I do not think you are stupid for doing this. A lot of us have never been to the resorts we are getting married at. The Royal gets very good reviews on Tripadvisor, it has to be a good resort.

I am getting married at The Royal Playa Del Carmen in March of 2008. I have never been there, but did a lot of research as far as reviews and information - check out Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor and you can see LOTS of candid photos from previous guests. As far as children, The Royal Playa Del Carmen does not allow children, but their sister resort next door does allow children - The Gran Porto Real. I do have some of my guests that are bringing children and are planning on staying at the sister resort. The children are, of course, allowed to be present at the wedding and/or reception, but cannot stay as a guest at the hotel overnight. Let me know if I can help you out in any way.

Thanks girls. I am starting to rethink my decision after talking to the "ceremony" coordinator this morning on the phone. I am just not getting as much information from them as I would like. I would like a beach wedding, but they tell me the beach is not big enough. I asked for pictures, and they say they don't have any. I am worried about food, the reception (I have never seen pictures of what it might be like). They don't even have pictures of the flowers they offer. So I am thinking about maybe the Royal in PDC or going back to the original plan of EDR (which I am not too thrilled about because of Lomas). Any thoughts? If anyone has any specific information from The Royal Cancun or The Royal PDC, I would really really appreciate the info. Thank you thank you thank you!

I am getting married on the beach and also having my reception on the beach at The Royal Playa Del Carmen, so that should not be a problem. The wedding coordinator there is Paty and the reception coordinator is Walter and they both respond pretty quickly to my emails. Let me know if you want their email addresses (PM me and I will give you what I have). As far as pictures, I have a couple pictures of the options they give you (where to have the reception: beach, by the pool, ballroom, etc) that I can forward on to you. I do also have pictures from another girl that married there - she sent me her pictures from her wedding. In reference to the flowers and things like that, I was told by the WC that everything for 2008 starts getting reserved/planned in Nov of 2007. So, I have been told that they can send me all of the flower options, cake options, decorations, etc in November and that is when I can start making those types of decisions. I also have menu information for the reception so that you can look at the food choices. Let me know what I can do to help out!
