Thanks for the info on this ladies. One question about swim ups... since most of the pools close at like 6pm (I think that's the case anyways) are you able to use the outside jacuzzi &/or little pool section outside your room AFTER those regular hours?

Am I totally wrong that the pools close like that? If so please set me straight.
OOo winos?! YAY, meeee tooo.... ok I love Malbec, I also LOVE Spanish wine, specifically Tempranillo, mmm so delish!

smile72.gif pools close? Well... not in my book they didn't close and nor did we follow that rule. Immediately after my wedding, my wedding party & husband all jumped in the pool with their clothes on and then we all immediately changed into our swimsuits and jumped into the adult swim-up bar area bringing all the alcohol and Tecate we had in our rooms since it was obviously closed. A guest hoped over the counter into the bar and served us all pretzels in a margarita glass. It was pretty funny and we noticed security watching us but they didn't say anything :) Another night we swam up when the bar portion of the adult swim up bar was open, Wave Lounge I think and we asked if they would still serve us even though the pool was closed and they said yes.... they are SUPER lax on their rules.

You can use the jacuzzi or pools outside your rooms whenever you want really. I'm sure if you were really loud they may say something

My requirements for rooms when i travel to the beach generally are to be as close to the beach as possible and to not be on the ground floor. From what i can tell, the only truly oceanfront rooms are the honeymoon suites.....Also, it seems the "premium" rooms are back behind the pool. I had ruled out the swim ups b/c i normally like to be up to see the sea good.

Currently we are just booked in the luxury jacuzzi oceanview (b/c it is off gorund floor and as close to beach as possible). my TA (which i have used for years) says she thinks this room suites me best b/c of my previous travel choices, but you all have me wondering if i should just do a swim-uphuh.gif thoughtshuh.gifhuh.gif
I am the same way typically, never on the ground floor and always oceanfront. In this case, I knew the swimups were on the ground floor so it didn't matter to me because the swimup trumped any room in that entire hotel. To each their own, it just depends on what you plan on doing while you're there.

I've heard of other girls buying local things for their OOT bags in Cancun/Playa, and they've found things like maracas, chocolates, local cookies, etc. I don't remember seeing anything like that in PM.
PM has a few markets in town and the MX version of 7Elven, OXOX (sp).

We are Olympus fans! :)
Do you mind me asking which company you are renting your car through? I read some horror stories about the rental car companies at the Cancun airport and would like to hear your experience if you've rented from there in the past.

LOVE THESE! Did you use, big and something.com ? I made inspiration boards for everything, love your whole color scheme and feel!
Could you please send me pictures of your reception location? ? ? I would love to see them because I am currently trying to decide between the location you mentioned, Plaza Zavaz, and a beach wedding. The only reason I am hesitant to have it on the beach is because I read that it gets really windy there in the evenings and I believe others said their guests were cold on the beach. Can you think of any other cons or pros of a beach reception you may have witnessed while there that I should keep in mind for our guests? My 85 year old grandmother will be there and I want to ensure that she is comfy....although I'm sure she'll probably turn in when we start dancing.

Oh and I cannot take any credit for the inspiration boards! I found those two online at past sites I have visited just for gingerlover because she said her FI sprung new colors on her. :-) I've been cruising photos for the past 2 weeks trying to nail down our color scheme. BUT, I did make one for Meredith that I was pretty proud of but for her's I used photobucket. What is this big and something that you speak of? ? ? Details, details! ;-)

I'm sure you'll get what you want (it's still waay early). Ours is at Plaza Zavas. I'm not sure if the Zocalla location is still available for Private receptions but our WC pretty much said this was the option for outdoor/private/covered space for dancing etc.

Thanks for helping clarify that for me ladies! I think I'll wait and see if I feel that premium is worth the difference b/w the $950 Pearl Pckge and the "Free" Package (hardly free if you think of it that way hahaha).
Hmmmmm, decisions, decisions......I just don't know enough about the 3 sites to make a selection yet. Any advice? We have 10 months until our day and now have 33 guests booked, so all indoor options are out for me.

I too am waiting to get our room total back from our TA before I decide on the package. Because if the premium is $3,500 for a week and the average room is $2,000 a week, than it makes no sense to go for the so called "Free."

Ohhhhhhh, thank you for the info on Puerto Morales! I really just wanted some maracas, especially for the kids. I had completely forgotten about that town! I was hoping to also get our photog to take some photos of us there for our TTD. Would you recommend it for that as well? I am looking forward to cruising around one day while there and taking in the small town flavor.

I'm gonna jump in here and say I find PM a great TTD/Day After location. I know the town and shot Wendy's session there. If you know where to go there are some real hidden treasures.

Sure, I'll definitely send them to you! Hopefully it helps :)

Oh it's called bighugelabs.com which is what I used to make my inspiration boards :)

Yeah AS/AB is technically in Puerto Morelos, I wish I would have known where to go while I was down there or had been adventurous enough to figure it out! I was at the swim up bar with FI at the time drinking a margarita and I said "Oh we have to get OOT bag stuff in town" and he was like... "right..." and I was like "yeah who am I kidding, I'm so not leaving this pool all day" LOL! So do it BEFORE you start drinking for the day, my advice :)

The more I think about it the more I am totally convinced on the swim up room... will have to tell my TA that!
You're welcome! I was a happy camper and I couldn't imagine you being disappointed with any decision at AS, seriously it's a nice hotel.

I second this. The 30's kick the 20's butt! woot2.gif
That makes me happy...I'll go and read over your review. I always feel better if at least one person has a positive experience...Thanx :)
