Any petite brides 5'4 and under? Please show us your dress. I'm a petite bride, only 4'11, and was wondering if anyone has stories about how easy or difficult it was to find a dress in your size and what kind of dress you eventually picked for your big day??

I'm 5'1" and picked this dress from David's Bridal: Satin A-line Halter with Split Front - David's Bridal

I needed it hemmed and taken in on the sides, but I went to a local seamstress and with the bustle it only came to $125.

My wedding dress is also the same size as my normal dress size, which apparently is weird...but they had me trying on bigger sizes and they were way too big on me.

My friend is 4'11" and got her wedding dress from Group USA. She didn't have any problems with fit either. Those seamstresses can work wonders for us petite brides!

I'm 5'3" and I just bought my dress from Group USA yesterday!! It was the 5th place I went to and I was already feeling defeated but I finally found my dress!! I am going to take my dress to a seamstress to get it bustled and fitted (if need be) closer to my date.

Where did you take your dress as I see you are in NJ too!!

I am 5'3" and bought a normal dress. My seamstress will just have to alter it to be shorter, but she says it will not be a problem. As for dress shopping it can be hard, but just take your time and be open to trying on things you would normally not think about trying. What I had imagined wearing and what I ended up buying are very different. But I love my dress! (Be note the lovely model wearing the dress is very tall...I am not LOL...unless I stand on a box!)

I'm 5'3" and went with a simple chiffon a-line gown from Exclusive by Allure. This designer does not have petite sizes, so I had to order a regular length gown. The seamstress did an awesome job on alterations, and even though I had to have quite a bit hemmed, it did not negatively affect the appearance of the dress.

You may want to consider how hemming a dress would affect it's shape and effect; for example, if there is beading that extends past the waistline down onto the skirt, it may look odd if quite of bit of the skirt is hemmed.

Happy dress shopping!
