Just give people the info if they ask and if you're not paying for passes the day of the wedding let them know that too. And people may actually prefer to pay the day pass.

This may sound crazy but I would be one of those people that would probably want to stay somewhere else. I don't eat meat and I have a lot of difficulties at buffet style dining. That being said, I may not buy a day pass to come EVERY day but I would definitely consider coming on at least one non-wedding day.

Also, and I know this is totes illegal - but you know the beach is public property - if people need to stay elsewhere for budget reasons you may be a able to sneak a few onto the grounds for the just hanging out days (probs not the wedding though).
Your probably right, a couple people could probably sneak in on their own accord for the "just hanging out days" if they wanted to.

Ya, I think this has happened to almost every bride on here, but keep on making things easy for everyone and if they chose to make it difficult for themselves than let them. OH WELL not our problem....thats my knew motto!

I really am starting to rethink even suggesting that we will pay, I know a lot of brides on here did do that for their guests but we just dont have the budgett for it I mean if even 2 couples decide to stay somewhere else thats almost $400.00 right there. We definitly cant afford it. Oh well either they come or they dont!

wait what- $400 for 4 people? really? that is crazy..........

we had 7 guests that stayed off site at a timshare- they thought they would save SO much money- well they didnt- they were at Dreams everyday because they wanted to be a part of the action- and they had no room so it was a pain in the a** for them to get ready, etc- seriously they said at the end" we shoud have just stayed here" i know you cant MAKE your guests stay but they will regret it if they stay elsewhere.

Isnt it like $85.00 per person for a day pass right? Thats what I thought anyway. I spoke with one of my friends today about it really nicely and by the end of the conversation she completely understood and wants to stay at Dreams. I just simply said... although you will pay a little more up-front for an All-inclusive you end up saving a bunch of money because of this expense or that expense and you get to either hang out with everyone if you choose to our have your own space if you choose to.

this topic came up as soon as i showed my parents our draft wedding website. they were like "people will want options" and we were all "no way! that means more work for us, and that we'll lose some of the fun of a DW"

so far no one has questioned our location.... but we are 15 months out. if the time comes, i will just tell people the they will be on their own to get to and from the marina and that they'll have to purchase day passes to come hand out with the rest of us at Dreams

Aww. That's rough. I didn't get married on a resort although I strongly suggested the place we were having the reception at. I gave info on several places though because i knew not everyone would want to stay at this place and would want cheaper options.

I feel your pain!!!! My family was all for a destination wedding and suddenly it is too expensive to come so they are trying to make me feel bad (It's working!!) and change the location. We have guests that want to stay elsewhere and I just told them to look up hotels on trip advisor if that's what they want and they are responsible for the day pass. We'll be at Dreams!

Yah, Ryans mom tried pulling the whole "we arent going if we have to spend more than 4 hours on a plane" I just said, "Ok, we would really love it if you came but I understand" I'm not changing the destination of OUR wedding to appease 2 people that are afraid to leave Cape Cod! Besides Ryan is mommies favorite and she knows damn well that she is comming so stop trying to make me feel guilty. If she wants to give us 40k for an at home wedding then we will have one here otherwise stop complaining.

we wrote this in our brochure and put it on the website

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT IF YOU CHOOSE TO STAY AT A DIFFERENT HOTEL, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON DREAMS PROPERTY EXCEPT FOR THE DAY OF THE WEDDING. DREAMS WILL ALSO EXPECT YOU TO PAY APPROX. $100/PER PERSON TO ENTER THEIR PROPERTY ON THE DAY OF THE WEDDING.

i did put a link to other hotels, but once ppl saw that they wouldn't be able to hang w/ us, they haven't said a word.
