That is a great deal! I read a post by someone on here that said reception gave the wedding programs out at as people checked in for them so I would imagine they wouldn't mind giving a bag, unless they take up too much room behind the desk or something. We will see :)

We're definitely doing a just in case kit with tylenol, bug spray, sun block, aloe...things like that, but I haven't thought about any of the other fun things to put in it. I was thinking I would look for a tote bag with maybe a clear front pocket to slide the welcome note into it. I'm going to ask Ana if these could be handed out by reception as people check in rather than be put in their rooms. I hope they can do it. For some reason I like the idea of them getting something right as they check in.
I purchased tote bags and had "Riviera Maya, Mexico May 2010" printed on them. We created a CD of songs we liked (Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, etc...) and customized the cover. We had chapstick with spf. A granola bar. A welcome letter. A cute tin that had mints in it. The tin was personalized with our photo. They are so cute, I am still using it for a pill box. Each guest had their own. The resort hands them out at the front desk upon check in. They will pass them around the rooms if you want but it is an extra fee. Because I had guests arriving on different days, I had to bring up the bags to Ana each morning and she would take care of it.

We only had 2 kids (flower girl and ring bearer). We got them special personalized duffle bags and filled them with fun kid stuff.

She mention some of her clients complaining about the service and many of them felt the need to tip just to get someone to serve them. She also mentioned the public areas being very crowded. My fiance and I are feeling a little overwhelmed nailing down a reosrt. There are so many pros and cons and opinions. I really like DRC from what I have read. So any advice from someone who has been there would be much appreciated. Thanks
I absolutely LOVED my wedding at DRC. I would highly recommend this. I went for a site visit in Novemember and the resort was a little too crowded but it was PERFECT in May. I think it depends what time of year you are going to get married. The service was fine. Originally there was only one coordinator, but there is an assistant who is quickly getting up to speed. By the time you get married, I'm sure she and Ana will be able to split the work. I wouldn't worry about that. There were a couple of communication issues that I had, but I'm sure it was the language barrier and could happen at any of the resorts. Just know that this is a lovely resort and the location of the ceremony on the sand was actually VERY private. I was originally concerned about this, but found out that I shouldn't have worried about it for a second!

I hope that helps.

Sounds great! Thanks, for the info on the distribution of the bags.

I just ordered the sand dollars on Friday so when I get them finished I will send you a picture. There are a few websites though that gave me the idea.

Photos : Wedding Details : Seating Cards

This the one that I liked the most. I will let you know how it works out. I am assuming that if I use a fine tip Sharpe marker that should work fine.

I should point out that I went over Thanksgiving. I'm sure the rest of the month is fine.

I wanted to post the photo album that I created on Shutterfly from the photos that my guests took. These are not the professional photos. I am still waiting on those. Please keep in mind that there are a few photos that were taken with a disposable camera (probably a bad idea) but those look really dark. The cocktail hour and reception were not as dark as they look in these photos. I think the professional photos will come out lighter.

Relax, Relax, Relax. My FI and I just returned from a site visit during Memorial Day weekend. We were able to meet with Ana for 2 hours. Yes, we did have an appointment but she was extremely flexible. We ran into her several times while we were there and she gave us all the time we needed to ask questions. We also had difficulty with her responding but keep trying. While we were there we got to see 3 weddings and each were beautiful. In addition, we got to meet with several other couples recenlty or soon to be married there. It is a common complaint that Ana does not respond in a timely fashion but in the end everyone was happy with the results. Ana knows what she is doing. Exactly when is your wedding- September 2010?
