Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

Congrats Admin!! Can't wait to see your review & pics:)

I just checked my Q & A form from Claudia & it does say that an extra charge will apply for a wedding rehersal. It doesn't say how much but i'm going to write an email to Claudia asking her. I can't imagine it'll be too much since a rehersal only takes 10 minutes, but its still pretty ridiculous...

One thing that I've been discussing with Cecilia is having a rehearsal. How long did it take for any of you past brides? I'm hoping not much more than half an hour. Also, did you actually play your music to practice the timing? It seems like we wouldn't be able to hear it very well with our tiny speakers and the wind (we're renting the sound system for the day of), so I'm pretty worried about how it'll all work out.
we're renting the sound system as well, but i'll have my iphone in one ear so that i can really get the timing right. Cecilia says it takes as long as you'd like, i'm thinking everthing can get squared away in half and hour.

as for the dreams, you're not the only one! the other night i had a dream that everyone was taking their seats and my hair was still wet, i had no make-up on, and when i went to put my dress on, i realized it wasnt altered!! plus my mom was decorating the house (yes we were getting married at some house!) with pink blow up ballons and streamers!!! ahhhh!!

there is no cost for the actual rehearsal, per Cecilia...don't know why Claudia has said differently. if you want a "private" rehearsal dinner, then that's extra.

The Rehearsal is free. It would be robbery if they charged you for that! hahaha

Honestly unless your worried about the song being too short, I wouldn't even worry about timing.
Claudia had a head set on and she would tell the sound guy when to change the songs and it was flawless :)

unless they changed since last year, the rehearsal itself is free and def takes less than a half hour. really all it is, is a walk thru of how you're lined up, where to walk, where to stand, etc. that's it. no music, no officiant present, no practicing your vows or anything. only a rehearsal "dinner" has a cost, but honestly, i think that's a ripoff ... i mean how many dinners are you willing to pay for at an AI? just go to one of the restaurants with your bridal party and call it a day!

ditto what jenn said about the music ... if you are renting the sound system, they adjust the music to fit your pace, not the other way around. trust that it will be totally seamless and perfect! when you get to where you need to be, sound guy will just fade it out.

Oh, he'll fade the music out? That was probably my biggest concern, that the song would be in the middle of a chorus and there'd be an abrupt cutoff. I just assumed the sound guy didn't really do anything except press 'play' and 'next'. That makes me feel so much better!

yeah the sound guy really takes care of everything. you have nothing to worry about at all! cheesy.gif i had a mini-freakout when i realized i never tested the cd i burned for the ceremony music ... for all i knew i handed them a blank cd or all the songs would skip. claudia (my WC) assured me that the sound guy would have checked out the cd beforehand to make sure everything was ok, and that it was his JOB to do so. made me feel so much better, and everything *was* just fine. i only wish i had put a few more tunes on the cd.

for anyone doing a legal ceremony: do yourself a favor and have a song (or two) for the guy to play during the signing of your documents! this literally took HALF of the entire ceremony time to accomplish. i wish i were kidding. 6 people need to sign in triplicate, plus bride and groom need to thumbprint.

if you are getting the video, be sure to have a disc of songs to hand the videographer. i didn't think ahead on this, so he just got our ceremony cd, which didn't include our first dance song or anything like that.
