Tan Lines don't go with the dress! Eek, gasp!

I bought the bandeau style with the removable straps so that if I'm walking around the girls are supported, but easily removed when I'm tanning...

my younger sister/MOH on the other hand doesn't seem to care about this issue even though I have gently reminded her that she's wearing a strapless dress - and I know she'll get burnt in the 5 days before the wedding... (ughhh, thanks for ruining my wedding pics LOL)

I am planning on buying a strapless bathing suit to help me not have tan lines. I will be tanning before I leave so I am hoping that if I do get some tan lines it won’t be too bad. I was thinking about being a little crazy with it and buying some strapless tops to wear during the day. I am only in Aruba 2 ½ days before the wedding so hopefully I can avoid any tan lines. By back up plan is makeup and self tanner.

Of course now I need to find a strapless bathing suit. I am not as big as some other girls (only a D) but I do need some support and the strapless tops aren’t very supportive.

Here's an idea....wear SPF 60 and stay in the shade. You will still tan but it won't be as dark. If you are tanning at home first you will have a good base going.

When I was in Mexico it was 4 days before the wedding and I constantly applied sunscreen and didn't lounge in the direct sun without my high SPF. It's better to be less tanned than to be red or have major tan lines IMO. Plus you can undo your straps when you're lying on your back.

Don't stress!!! You'll probably be too busy to be sun tanning anyhow wink.gif

My strategy is to get my base tan...been working on it! Then, I've bought two strapless suits that I can wear in Dominican! I also bought a couple strapless cover ups! I will be so careful at home over the next little while about using sunscreen during the days at school...especially for the ones where we're outside a lot! If all else fails a really good bronzer might need to be used to even out the chest area on the wedding day :) Ah...the things we brides worry about :)

I plan to get a base tan, wear tons of sunscreen, and get one of those cute little bandeau tops (or maybe a few!).

As a side note, it's kind of funny to go through this thread and see posts from a long time ago and also see their pictures on how it turned out. Like Jacilynda -- it looks like she fared pretty well, but her bridesmaids weren't so lucky with the tan lines! But like someone else said, at the end of the day, who really cares.

Find a good airbrush tanning salon in your area! Resaerch, research, research! Go in and talk to them. They usually advise doing a trial of this a few months before, then do the real thing a week or so out (so it doesn't look fresh).

I've heard Mystic Tans also work nicely - you could use your tan as a base tan so you would get a really nice color.

There are some self-tanning products, like Hawaiian Tropic and Neutrogena, that are really great. You can apply them to only the tanlines and then buff with baking soda to even the color out to a perfect, streakless shade. I did this for several beauty and bikini competitions - it works fabulously.

Why dont you buy a little toweling sundress thats strapless. You can then wear the bikini underneath and have the straps tucked in.That way your legs can still brown up and your shoulders and you arnt going to get caught out walking to and from the pool beach room etc.Thats what i have planned anyway.Knowing my luck if i didnt go this route id be out longer than planned and then find myself looking like a zebra.

Isnt it true what they say you always see someone worse than yourself at the beach

So if the girls arnt as supported as youd like um to be, let it go your gunna have fab wedding pictures xx

I plan on doing all of the above ladies! All of the above--- probably with the exception of staying in the shade... I am going to Playa for the sun! Also, what do you mean 'buff with baking soda?' I've never done anything like it before so I am curious...

I too have been stressing about tan lines...the only good thing I have going for me is that my dress is actually a halter, so I dont have too worry too much about having to get a strapless bathing suit. The only worry I have is that the back on the dress is very low..so I'm more concerned about the tan line on my back. Because I am a D cup and the stretch marks on my belly make me to self concious to wear a two piece, I will not be able to unsnap the back when laying on the belly. So with just 4 weeks to go until my big day, I have decided to start tanning to get a base. Hopefully, it will work and the tan lines that I may get during my stay in Jamaica before the wedding wont be soo noticeable. Well, good luck and I hope the pics turn out great, which I'm sure they will!!
