Makeup?

Recommended Posts

I'm not quite sure what to do about this.. I can get a hair/makeup girl for $200 or just hair for $100. I have a friend who is really good with makeup so I'm thinking I could get her to do it for me and my two BM's. Or maybe my BM's want to do their own.. haven't fully decided what to do yet.. sigh.

You aren't alone -I rarely wear makep either. I keep my lipgloss/chapstick with me at all times but that's it (avon dew kiss...the best!) I have bare essentuals (sp?) for special occasions and that's not even hardcore makeup but it looks really natural and is bold enough for me. I used that on my wedding day. My bm's are so into makeup & one of them used to work at MAC at Nordie's so I leaned on them. One of my bm's did my eye makeup, one did my face, and I did my lips because I can handle that.

They say on your wedding day you should look like your natural self but a little spiced up...that was me. Nothing too exaggerated or I would have felt like I was a woman of the night....lol. Have your friend that's good with makeup do it and spend the money on some really good wedding day perfume :o)

i don't wear an ounce of makeup, but i did on my wedding day. i don't have a clue how to put it on, nor do i care to learn! a friend was supposed to do it, but becuase of timing - i had the woman that did my hair do it at the last minute (using Leigh and my friend Marti's makeup!). whew - thank goodness those ladies were around for me.

i didn't vote though - because none really apply to me. i had a professional do mine (even though that wasn't the plan)

just to clarify - i don't NOT wear makeup because i think i'm some natural beauty! it really comes down to laziness. the same reason i've never got my hair colored (maybe i've used lemon juice before in teh summer! lol). i just really don't like spending time on myself. i MIGHT have a mascara from 15 years ago (i should throw that out, eh?). and i can't stand lip gloss or anything but good ol' chapstick. even cherry chapstick is a little much for me! lol i am sure i'd look better with it - but i just don't want to deal with it. sooo lazy!

Well, I think you are BEAUTIFUL ... and I wish I felt more comfortable going sans makeup. But I think you may want to throw out that mascara. lol.

I wear plenty of makeup for all of you!! (Also work in TV news) And my fiance loves it on the weekends when I scrape it all off and go au natural! My advice.. wear a little but be comfortable. My sister had her makeup done on her wedding day, she doesn't normally wear makeup, and was unhappy with the way it looked in pictures. I'd suggest saving some money.. have a mildly experienced friend/bridesmaid start practicing on you now, and have them do it for you on your wedding day. The likely result will be a lot less heavy than a professional! AND!!! My hairdresser here in Chicago is from Mexico, he warned me to do it myself, says they tend to be very heavy handed in the makeup department.

I wear makeup, and like Sarah mentioned I also went to the Mac counter before the wedding and had them do it. I'm SOOO glad I did because I had the women at the resort start with my eyebrows and they ended up 4 shades darker then my hair.. That's when I stopped her and told her "never mind I'll do my makeup".. In all honesty, I wish I spent the extra money to go to suzanne Morales in cabo, I "liked" my makeup but I wasn't "thrilled" with it on the wedding day.

I love make up. Maybe it's silly, but I love experimenting with all the different colors. I've done make up for brides for a few weddings and all of them never wore make up. Sometimes having someone come in that's a "professional" and a make up lover, they don't understand the difference of what looks subtle to them might look outrageous to a non-make up wearer. When doing friend's make up sometimes I put on something that I think is natural and they get kinda skittish. That's why it's best to do trial runs to see what you are comfortable with.

I think you should wear some make up on your wedding day- just to make your skin even and to add a little pop to your eyes. It will photograph better too.

However, I think what Sara did is the best idea. Go to a make up counter, buy what you like, and PRACTICE. It's not hard once you figure out what you like and how you did it.

Tammy, I thought you looked gorgeous. Isn't that the whole point to make up anyways? You achieved the feat while saving some dough.
