Hi Ladies,

I am writing this because someone posted the great tip that you should number the RSVP cards just in case folks returned them without a name attached. Well...sure enough...I was so excited and in a rush to get out my invites that I did not do this. Learn from my mistakes!! LOL Of course...half of the declines have come in to me with no name on them at all!!! It's only two so far, but my invites have only been out a bit over a week so it could get really bad.

I looked at the wording of my RSVP which I will print below to try to understand why folks may not have put a name on the decline. I should also note that in both cases where this happened....they checked off the "will not attend" at the spot for the Welcome dinner and left the rest of the RSVP completely blank!! I have passport invites with a boarding pass RSVP that had a seat# on them...maybe people thought that I would know ...so many folks have asked me if I made up individual seat numbers. Maybe I should not have put the Welcome dinner RSVP on the same card. In any case, here's the RSVP...I thought I was pretty clear...maybe not:

We look forward to celebrating with you. Please RSVP By May 15, 2010

That is one of the best tips I have ever heard. Thank you so much for posting this. I am so sorry that people are not putting their own names down for you. How are you to know who they are? Hope it gets better. Thanks again!

Thanks for the tip. Mine are printed and just need to be assembled/stamped. I'm going to write numbers on them all. My mom used to number ourChristmas presents because my brother and I were so nosy and would shake/open anything with our names!! Not sure why this reminds me but it does.

Danielle, I hope you figure out who the guests were.

Thanks for sharing this information with others. One thing that a friend of mine shared as a wedding planning tip was to number the RSVP cards. Well, I made sure I put that on my to-do list and when i was assembling the invites I remembered to do it. I simply printed out the guest list and gave each invite a number. I'm sure I'll get a few back without names.

I think that your RSVP card was very clear but people probably didn;t read the whole thing and just checked a selection off.

Thanks very much for sharing! I really like the numbering idea.

Has anyone seen or personally printed out labels of the recipient's addresses to put on the RSVP? I am also thinking about doing this but not sure if it is a "no no" or whatever in terms of wedding etiquette... wink.gif
