Recommended Posts

Hey all!

Hope you are having fun planning, once the day arrives it goes WAY TOO FAST!! Anyways I wanted to share the photos from our photographer Artistique out of Portland. They just won album of the year with our book. They are fantastic, great people, super fun to work with and really got some good shots. Anyways wanted to share :)

I tried reading back so I apologize if this was covered before. I'm still deciding between a legal or symbolic ceremony. Right now I'm trying to compare costs. I know blood tests are about $170. Do you know the additional costs beyond that? We both have never been married before, so we don't have to worry about any extra paperwork other than our passports.

What I am most confused about is coming home. Does anyone know what the requirements are, once you are married in Mexico, to have the documentation legal in the US? Do you have to have it all translated and apostilled? How much does all of that cost?

What are you ladies planning on doing?

Maybe there are some rooms left at Gran Porto.

Do you know how we go about that? We are thinking about bringing in all of our centerpiece items (mostly glass and candles with cobalt blue glassware.) Im wondering if we just set up a table how we would like it done in our meeting or something like that?
The WC told me that we can give the decorations to the resort WC and tell them how we want it to be set up in the meeting.

We decided to do Symbolic. We are lucky enough to have a good friend who has married other couples and is going to do the symbolic ceremony for us in Mexico. That is going to save us $400 for the judge and $170 for the bloodwork.

To get your marriage license and court wedding here in Florida is only about $100 total and you don't need witnesses. We are going to go to the courthouse to get married the day before we leave for Mexico....but are going to keep it hush hush since I think my mom would go a little nuts.

I also heard that it can take up to 4 months to get your legal certificate from Mexico and in most states you need it translated, which costs even more money. I think getting legally married at home makes it so much easier!

I just emailed again the beginning of this past week so I figured I would give it about a week or so before either calling her or emailing Carroll
Could you tell me Carols email? I misplaced it after, I was told Suzanna was my new WC

FI and I had a long talk last night about the Royal, lack of response, rate hikes, "wedding factory", and how we shouldn't feel like we are "bothering" the WCs by asking pertinent questions once a month. He is completely convinced that we should change resorts and even called another one and spoke with their WC and held our date tentatively. He said "Boom, so how easy that was? That is how it should be"

oh so stressed! I'm so on the fence now (especially since the package is almost identical and 1200 less.....)
