starting the name change process...........

OK so i went to the social security office yesterday (and was there 2 hrs!) and got the paper stating that my name is changed but it will take 2 weeks to get the new card. can i use that paper to go ahead and get a new license or do i have to wait until i get the new card? and do i have to have the new license before i can change my name on our bank account or can i do that now?

I was able to get my new license with the marriage license and paper from the Soc Security office. My bank wanted my new DL and marriage license...

for the most part you can do everything seperately. there MIGHT be some things that require a picture ID w/the new name, in that case you'd need to wait for your DL or passport to come back w/the new name. but i can't imagine that will happen. evreything is seperate!

almost everywhere will likely ask for a certified copy of your marriage license - that's all

Now are all using the Mexican marriage license? It's making me very nervous for some reason.

Ok girls, stop being so dang efficient please. I've been married for almost 4 months & I haven't done anything about this yet! Well, I've downloaded the Social Security form & looked at it, but that's about it.

eh - it took me about 4 years to go back to my maiden name after i was divorced! lol

ha ha.. well Nicole I had the WORST experience in the world about changing my name over. I had NO problem at the Social security office but when I went to DMV that was another story. They ended up making me go to a translation company and have the legal paperwork translated.. They "claim" it was MI law, but Sarah had no problems when she did hers..

i didnt get legally married in cabo so hopefully it wont be a big deal.........i just made an appt (in florida you make appt at the DMV.....) for monday- so i will let yall know
