Mayan Palace Brides- Post Here!

Recommended Posts

I know that we've had a couple of brides on here considering or who have opted to have their weddings at the Mayan!

Please post here! I have so many thoughts/questions and would love to share!

i.e., we are having a Catholic Church ceremony but I love the jetty at the mayan and would like to utilize it some how. My photog suggested lining it with petals which would make a great photo op. Any suggestions?

This may sound like a stupid question but is the jetty the little runway looking thing where the brides get married? If so, then I would do rose petals and maybe candles or those candles in the paper bags with your logo. That would look really nice. Or you could do a canopy with flowers (not sure you'd want to waste the money on this though since you are getting married in the church) or an arch of flowers.

Thanks Glenda. I do love the idea of scattering petals. I have to admit though, thoughts of having 2 ceremonies have crossed my mind since the ceremony (and set up) is already included in the fee.

This is the jetty at the Mayan (the pics are from prisarvallarta.com)

  • 2 weeks later...

Amy,

Hello everyone...I am getting married at the Mayan on February 16, 2008. If anyone has any questions...please let me know. I have visited the Mayan and I am so excited to get married there. It was so breathtaking...I can't wait to share it with my family and friends.

I am lining the Jetty with orange rose petals but I am getting married on it. I like the candle idea too.

Yay Amy!!! I'm so glad to see you on here! Now we need Edna back, hehe!

I love the idea of lining the jetty, that is going to look amazing!

You've mentioned that you are going to do the buffet and open bar. Is that correct?

We are doing a sit-down and corkage fee. I wonder if the bartenders/ waiters actually serve drinks to the guests at their tables? I've gone to family weddings in Mexico and usually they just leave bottles on each table and the bar is walk up service only.

Here are a few ideas I have and I wonder if anyone has the same or if they've asked Marco yet.

- I want a signature drink (blue margarita) for the cocktail hour and would like to have some prepared for the guests as they arrive.

- I wonder if we have a choice for any dinner listed on the menu. Our package includes a 3-Course dinner but each indiviual dinner has its own price on the menu so I'm not sure if we will be charged extra since its not specified in the contract.

-Is there a kids menu? I wonder if we can have a seperate area for the kids and thier own mini buffet??

Okay, I think thats it for now :)

Thank you Amy for the nice welcome!!!

I have decided to do the Mexican Buffet or stations and open bar. I haven't finalized my menu yet because I waited until it got closer and I found out exactly how many people are showing up. When do you think I should have it finalizedhuh.gif

I haven't asked about signature drinks but that is a fun idea!!! I have only talked to Marco lately about getting the DJ.

Am I the only one having my wedding ceremony at the Mayan?

Thanks for including me,

Amy R.

Amy,

I believe Edna posted (on yahoo brides) that she is having 2 ceremonies, a Catholic Church ceremony and the civil ceremony will be on the jetty.

About the menu, since your having a buffet or stations, I don't think you need to finalize it to early. Just what Marco reccomends.

Our package includes a tasting once we arrive in PV a couple days before the ceremony, but I really want to make menus for each table or plate so I need to at least month before so that I can make them. However I did ask if we could have 2 types of plates. He said that was fine but we needed to give him a count ahead of time. So if we decide on this latter option, I'll need to ask our guests on the RSVP/Response card which will go out with the formal invites.

The mayan is in the marina close to the airport, Dreams is way on the other side. Jaime go to my website. I have maps. You'll see that Dreams is in the southern end.

I love the Mayan but don't really like the hotels near it and I don't want our drunk guests having to travel far after the reception. smile35.gif

Maybe if I don't go with the Mayan I can afford to get Dazzling Details to coordinate our wedding at Dreams...

Somehow something has to start clicking sooner or later... smile124.gif
