I like that! No, I didn't work with destination weddings but kind of wish I did- I feel like you got more inside information! I just went off of the packages through Iberostar and booked on my own but probably would have bee able to tailor it more had I used an agent!

@@DLS2016 So I spoke with the hotel and they told me that I would have to pay a penalty of $300usd plus $63 for a day pass to have someone come in a do my makeup.

I'm trying and hoping there is a way around this. Did you speak with the wedding coordinator or is there someone you can direct me towards that will help with this? It seems ridiculous that I'm being charged a penalty.

It seems like they are charging extra for every little thing. I was told $12 per fresh flower on the cake.

@@Harper370 it's not too late to work with DTW. You only pay a $50 fee and it's well worth it in my book. Honestly, if you are getting prices like $12 for fresh flowers I would consider it. Are you buying a wedding package?? If you aren't that's the only reason I can think of that they would charge for flowers on the cake.

I didn't speak with the wedding coordinator at the resort, I went through my destination wedding coordinator Lisa Johnson. Seriously, I promise you half the stress is taken out of the planning when you have someone helping you. I don't know where I would be without Lisa. She is awesome!

Yuctant hair did mention that they would be willing to tell guest services they are at the resort as your guest so you only pay the $65 fee. Maybe they would be willing to do your hair at their house?

Did you tell the resort you want airbrush makeup? If they have it by December then I would imagine there is no way around the fee

@@DLS2016 could you give me contact information for Lisa Johnson if she is only a $50 fee then I much rather pay her then deal with all this back and forth.

I did tell the coordinator at the resort but she only said they offer bridal make up.

Also I spoke with Michael from yucatan hair and he mentioned they would just get passes and add it to the total.

No we didn't go with a traditional wedding package. We requested dinner on the beach which is part of their romantic dinner package. What kind of wedding cake selections are they giving you?

This is Lisa's email address. She is will probably refer you to the main DW website to fill out the form and you can always request her as your agent. She is awesome. She arranged my wedding day in 4 hours no joke.

We are going with their standard options for the wedding cake which includes the flowers. in all honesty I haven't gotten that far yet. They gave me a spreadsheet with all the options for the day of and the prices that go along with them.

@@beachbeth Absolutely! I'll keep you posted as I get to make more plans. I think I've done everything I can until the 3 month mark which is when Iberostar's wedding coordinator said we'd be in more frequent contact.

You'll be fine with 40 people for the private reception. The reception costs $990 USD to rent out an entire restaurant for 4 hours. Not too bad as it'll still be far cheaper than a wedding where I live! The DJ is $636 USD (with taxes included) for the entire 4 hours and the dance floor will just be the restaurant floor (which I think is perfectly fine! You can upgrade to adding a fancy dance floor but that just seemed like too much extra money).  I know it was confusing to sort out the cost of everything for me so I figured I'd share! Hope that helps!!

@@beachbeth and @Icole1 I will also keep in touch as planning progresses. I will also let you know how things go after I get back! There is a vendor I found online that does rental decorations I believe the name of the company is called Love and Lacy. She brings all the decor you want to the resort in a suitcase so you don't have to pay the outside vendor fee which saves some $$.

Yes the vendor fees are quite outrageous! I had to cancel Beso brides because of that.

Is anyone using the resort photographer? I'm trying to decide if the getting ready session is worth the extra money. They charge a pretty hefty fee also.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
