Recommended Posts

Hi, Ladies

I am sorry that it took me so long to join this forum!  I remember a bunch of ladies talking about it in the 2013 weddings forum and then I just forgot to add myself to the May 2013 forum after it got started.

I am a May 4, 2013, bride.  We are getting married at Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Jamaica.

Tasks I have completed:

Booked block of rooms

Sent save the dates

Set up wedding website (http://walters-doolin.ourwedding.com/)

Booked photographer

Booked officiant (we are having a Jewish ceremony so we aren't using the minister offered with our package)

Bought wedding dress

Picked up wedding dress

Picked bridal party

Informed bridesmaids of their dresses

Registered

Have travel coordinator

Picked wedding colors (neutrals)

Tasks in the process:

Invitations

Hair/Makeup

Videographer

Booking travel for us (waiting for Air Tran's release of prices)

HAPPY PLANNING!  I am excited to be apart of this forum!!

I emailed Pilar directly and she has already gotten back to me to confirm that the renewal of vows has been changed to the 'Your Moments Wedding Package' so we are delighted & relieved now. So its May 6th 2013 in Now Jade. YAY :))) Thank you for your help :)

what is everyone putting in their OOT bags?  i understand everyone has their own tastes and to each their own... but i'm having a hard time deciding what i want to take down with me???

for the actual bags, i am either getting colored tote bags, canvas totes or reuseable totes (my fiancé owes an apparel printing company so i can get them super cheap through his wholesale mills).. we will also be printing a design on them which is free since he will do it himself- something about jamaica so they are universal looking and able to be used again!

we are also making t-shirts/tanks for everyone, again this is free (only the wholesale cost of the shirt).  not sure about the front but the back will say something about our wedding.

i also have door hangers made (not printed yet) and a welcome letter that will be inside the bag.

besides that, i am not sure what to add.. i've gone back and forth on liquor/rum bottles but what's the point if it's all-inclusive or if the person don't like rum.. i also like the koozie idea because when i was in jamaica last year i kept wishing i had a koozie as my drinks were sweating all over the place (but my fiancé pointed out that what is the glasses are not beer can size? which was true for my jamaican resort last year).  i'm not a fan of the kits of advil, bandaids, pepto, stain remover, etc. maybe it's just me but when i travel, i bring all that stuff anyways so i wouldn't want to get small packs of stuff i already have, only not to use them.  i've also seen people do playing cards which i think is cute but are we really going to sit around and play cards?

anyone else have other ideas?

Gas prices have been going up but my smarty pants FI brought up the point that this is an election year and "magically" the gas prices always seem to coinside and go down closer to election. I would keep your eye on them end of Sept and Oct.

That's awesome that yall will get a lot of goodies for next to nothing!! Lucky :o)

I'm going with reusable totes, they were from Old Navy and match our color scheme. As far as items I'm including here they are:

  • Hand Sanitizer
  • First Aids Kits and tylenol (I know you didn't want to include these items though.
  • Immodium, because I hear some people get sick from the traveling to another country.
  • Frisbee's and silicone watches in our colors for the kids
  • Door Hangers
  • Aloe and Sunscreen ( I know ppl will bring there own, but if they run out they'll have a back up since prices for these items are high at the resorts.
  • Crystal Light / Propel flavor packs for water.
  • Gum
  • Kleenex
  • Cards ( I agree about the not using them while there.. But I got mine for free so I couldn't pass them up)
  • I may take labels and see if I can get water bottles from the resort to put in the bags, just so plenty of water is on hands in their room

I don't really know that to put in the bags, I highly considered personalized coffee or water mugs, but quickly decided I didn't want to keep up with a ton of luggage since I'm also taking chair sashes and raffia fans.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
