Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I've been following this thread for a little while, and thought it was time to post with a few questions of my own :)

I am getting married this December at OC&T .. it's coming up pretty quick!

We have our ceremony and reception all booked, but it's taking me a while to get any response from the wedding coordinators..

Hopefully I will hear from them soon!

Is there anyone else having their wedding here in December?

Does anybody know if guests need a credit card upon checking in? A couple of my guests dont have credit cards, so it would be nice to know in advance...

Also, how is the night life at the resort? We're not too crazy of partiers, but it would be nice to know if there is a disco or anything open late at night...My fiance and I were in Manzanillo in February, and they had a disco open until 2am every night.. it was great to go and dance and meet people!

Did anyone get the chance to head out to the town of Puerto Morelos? or even Playa del Carmen? We want to check out the ziplining, or go ATVing if anyone has any recommendations on where to go, that would be great!

If anyone could help with some of my questions, that would be great!!

Thanks so much!

Megan

Hey Megan,

welcome to the group!

Im not sure how recently you've been following the thread but there has recently been a lot of turn over with wedding coordinators at the resort.  THe good news is it sees they just recycle the same 2 emails so you likely have a correct email and someone will get back to you soon-ish.  The only coordinator we currently know for sure is daniel at weddings.oct@oceanhotels.net, he apparently replaced ana but that email is vanesa's old email (so depends on who you were speaking with, but i would try that email if you want a response)

as for night life at the resort, there is no disco, we have a number of friends that have been to this resort before. There are apparently though frequent "pool parties" that many brides have talked about on here.

I'm sorry but i can't answer your questions about the excursions or night life outside the resort, maybe someone else on here can :)

Welcome Megan, im getting married in January just after you.

Have you received the wedding checklist for your selections?? they just sent me mine, and some of the information like guest list & table set up & salon appts. I won't know until later once everyone has booked, so not sure if I just fill out what I know so far & send it back or what?

I still haven't gotten a confirmation that I can have the reception upgraded to the lobby terrace though.

I'll let you know if I get any other information...so far I've received the photography packages, wedding checklist & guestlist form.

@@BeeJewell - Thanks for the info!! I hope the place doesn't shut down after 10pm though :)

@@aborgesbride - I did receive all the wedding info from them as soon as I booked the wedding (photography, menu, ect)....

Also, I e-mailed them yesterday and already got a response from Daniel with him apologizing that it had taken so long to get a reply .. I think they might be trying to respond more frequently now by the sounds of it!

I dont think I will fill out anything until maybe a month before the wedding :)

Hello fellow Brides,

My fiance and I are having a symbolic ceremony at OCT on July 4, 2015.  After three months of researching online at resorts I chose Ocean Coral... the wedding options and price agreed with what I wanted and could afford.  I filled out the paperwork for the deposit and sent it back to Ana, it has been three weeks and they still didn't take.  It is making me nervous.  I know it is over a year away but I wanted to make sure to book the date and time, especially since we took the risk and sent out the wedding invitations already.  Did I make the right choice with Ocean Coral?

@@ddangel1975  hi carla, welcome to the group.

If you read up just a couple posts thats been the hot topic the last couple days.  Ana is no longer with the company, daniel is your main contact now, his email is also above.

Good luck!

Thanks I did read some of the posts and was able to email Daniel and he responded right away and took the deposit.  Now I am waiting for the other paperwork on my choices.

Hello Brides,

I just joined this group with the intention of helping others out being that we came back from our "wedding inspection" trip at the resort 2 weeks ago. Instead...you ended up helping me out! I had no idea Ana left. We actually spoke with her and she was telling us how much better her job will be now that she has more help!?!? She was the one with all of our information and choices for ceremony/reception etc... I guess I'll email Daniel just to confirm everything again :S

While we were there, they gave us all the checklists as well as menu and cake choices. If anyone is curious as to what they are I will be happy to provide.

Did any of you pay for extra lighting at the terrace? If so, what was the cost and would you do it again?

I'm also torn about PhotoPro - the sample books they have at the resort are terrible! Has anyone used an outside photographer? WOuld you recommend them?

Have any of you paid for the DJ service? Ana told me that the DJ will just play the music and not do any sort of MC work. Was that your experience?  An MC service from the resort is an additional $300.

@@MHyde - every night the resort either had a live band or a dj playing music in the lobby until either 12 or 12:30 (can't remember exactly) and there was A LOT of dancing going on. After that, some of the more lively guests went over to Route 66 - this place stays open until 6am. It's more of a downtown diner experience but they have a bar so you can keep going until the sun comes up. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
