We had 50 people (about 25-30 different messages) in our Shutterfly guestbook and not a single person smudged...

I'd say that you can trust it...

Yep, 3 diferent colors of fine tips... My mom did have a note or warn people to be careful, but if it was going to happen, it was going to happen... And it didn't!
