karma: 0 | Riu or Dreams Resort?????
Hi everyone,
I am debating between the Riu Palace and the dreams resort. Anyone have any pros and con's on each? Looking to have between 40-50 people. Any help would be great I am so torn between the two. Any reason why someone chose one over the other? thx and congrats everyone!!!!
The futrue Mrs. Romero :)

Both have had really good reviews I think the reason we choose Dreams is because the look and feel of the resort was more our style. But both resorts have great wedding packages and host good weddings its a tough one.
RIU is bigger, closer to town, a little more modern.
Dreams is smaller, more quaint and intimate feeling.
This is just my opinion though.

I'm not positive but I believe they are relativly equal in price. Not sure about the actual price of the wedding though.

its cheaper to have a private ceremony/reception at dreams since they charge a per person fee...i think riu charges per hour for an open bar but i could be mistaken.
regarding room rates, they are pretty much the same normally unless one is having a sale.

I had the same decision to make. It was between Riu and Dreams. I chose Dreams because the wedding coordinator at Riu would not retun my e-mails in a timely fashion or at all. Also it was about $800 for the basic package at RIU where it was free at Dreams. I really think Dreams is cheaper but I can't say for sure.
I had my site visit at Dreams after we booked and I love the resort. It is a decent size and very intimate. Its not a party hotel. I believe the Riu has a club and is more "active" where you need to have the music turned off by 10:30 at Dreams.
Riu is alot closer to town, but Dreams is only a cab ride away.
Hope that gives you a little more information, from my opinion. The brides on here that have already had their wedding at both places can comment on that. I'll be able to tell in 4 1/2 weeks how mine goes!!
Good luck on your decision...
