OK well I went to a bridal shop down in Orange County today full prepared to try on my beloved "Scarlet" and possibly buy it (they were offering 10% off because it was the trunk show. So I tried it on and while the dress is still just as beautiful as ever I figured I try on some other gowns just in case. Well this Alvina Valenta dress ended up just being more flattering. PLus it was on sale and was the perfect size and well it was 1/2 the price too. So I bought it. The pictures don't look so great - my friend took them with her camera so now I am sudden;y having second thoughts (and ofg course it's too late because everything is paid for).
Anyway it's the same alencon lace that Scarlet (among many other dresses) is made with and it has a satin folded ribbon under the bust that is curved which helps make the waist look small. Anyway these pictures are awful - So I am just praying that it looks better in real life: |

Yup - got the veil too. I am starting to calm down a but - suddenly I was having buyers regret - I guess that happens with big ticket items. Here's a pic of the top and another one of the back online. I bought mine without the snap on bow train thing but you can get a better idea of the lace and stuff: |

I choose style 1831. Here is the link. CasaBlancaBridal.com: Fall Collection/1831
(I still haven't figured out how to post a pic in my message....guess I need to read up in the how to section)
I also heard that net bride was a good site. I'm glad that your experience with them was a good one. Sometimes it is hard to know if you should trust an online retailer...especially when it comes to buying something as important as your wedding dress. I'm glad it worked out for both of us. BTW, I think I mentioned this in the thread with your wedding photos, but your dress looked great on you!!

The designer is Alvina Valenta. I tried on more dresses today and none compared to that one. I told the lady yesterday I didn't want to take it off, so that's a good sign.

okay girls...here is me in my dress...I had to go in the bedroom and lock him out...so the pics are great...I am not entirely loving the dress to be quite honest with you guys. I feel like it looks good on me, but I am not getting that feeling that Kate just described...I feel like its too plain...I don't want to have something that in a few years I am going to think wow, what was I thinking, but I am not sure if some of it is because I feel like I want to lose more weight...keep in mind I am getting married in a church in Napa Valley and my bridesmaids are wearing floor length dresses...
be honest ladies, I need to know what you guys think...

This is a dress I wanted to try on but never did, and now the sale at David's bridal ends tomorrow so now I am trying to figure out how I can go there before it closes tomorrow.
Anyway-I think that also part of my problem is that my step-sister just got engaged and already bought her dress which is exactly like mine except for her's has a pick-up skirt and mine is straight.
I also think that the dress i got would have been perfect for a beach wedding, but now that I am going something a little more formal, I am thinking I want a fancier dress.
I did try it one with veils and it felt a little better, but not really. After I took the pics I posted, I put on my pearls and the earrings I bought, again that didn't really help. David's Bridal - Bridal Gowns T9303 Off-the-shoulder satin beaded ball gown.
