I was wondering if anyone sent a letter with their STDs explaining why they choose a destination wedding? I am trying to word something together for future use... but everything sounds funny. Could anyone post an example of what they wrote?

LOL, yeah, that's what I would like to say... but I'm thinking some people won't like that :)

I was thinking more along the lines of

"Dear family and friends,

We're engaged... blah blah blah. After thinking about all the places we'd like to get married... blah blah blah, we've decided on Mexico. We know not everyone will be able to join us due to time and money constraints..."

and then that's where i get hung up! What do I say... but, too bad if you can't come because I'll party with the people who can? I just wanted to get in there somehow that I understand that people can't come and I won't hold it against them, but this is what we really wanted.

I would like to put this little note on the back side of my boarding pass envelope. Anny's actually inspired me to do this... although I have NO idea what her's said!!! it was in Spanish!

I found this wording on a web site that I considered using, but then decided it wasn't necessary in our case. Hope it's helpful!
As you know, we are in the process of planning our wedding. We are contemplating having a Destination Wedding in a tropical location.

As someone important to us, we want to get your opinion on whether you could attend, given the following "ballpark" information:

- It could be a 3- or 4-night travel package requiring either a Thursday and/or a Friday (or both) off from work. Our projected dates are Thursday, May 15 through Sunday, May 18 with the wedding to take place on Saturday, May 17.

- Estimated travel expenses could start at around $750 per person, including airfare, hotel accommodations, transfers to and from the airport, food & drinks, and taxes.

We would love to have a Destination Wedding, but wanted to check in with our most important guests before making this decision, as we would love to share this important time in our lives with you. We are looking forward to hearing back from you!

here are our FAQs and answers...obviously not many very serious...

Why don't I see underwater basketweaving on the list of activities?

We tried as hard as we could to find a resort that could accomodate all of our guests' interests and needs; however, it came down to a choice between underwater basketweaving and ping pong. Much to the dismay of the groom's brother, we had to go with ping pong. Again, we're sorry Justin!

Why aren't the cats included in your wedding party? Actually, they were asked to be, but politely declined. They're xenophobes.

why mexicohuh.gif

are you kidding? have you ever tried to find a real mariachi band in the u.s.?

plus we both like refried beans.

is your marriage going to be legal? no. we just think it's funny to make you come all the way down to mexico for no reason.

can i drink the water? why drink water? it's an all-inclusive place, try some tequila instead.

what should i wear to the wedding?

nothing. it's a nudist colony, so feel free to wear your birthday suit. not comfortable attending a naked wedding? ladies, try a skirt or a sundress. gentlemen, feel free to wear khakis, shorts...no footwear necessary for the ceremony, but you may be more comfortable wearing dancing shoes during the reception.

we're kinda hoping someone does show up naked...it'll certainly be something to talk about - the streaker that ran down the beach during the wedding!!!!!

here's part of our first draft for the STD letter:

Although we want to have a small and simple wedding weekend, there are some special friends whom we would love to be with us and our families to share in our day and enjoy the beauty of Puerto Vallarta. We hope you can join us, so we are sending you this letter so that you can save (and book!) the date.

Our wedding will be at sunset Saturday, February 16, 2008. Suggested travel dates are 2/14-2/18, as there will be a rehearsal dinner on 2/15, and other planned meals and activities on the 16th and 17th. This weekend is President's Day Weekend. We realize that this may make it difficult for you to come to Puerto Vallarta, and we would understand if you cannot join us. But our fingers are crossed and we'll be delighted if you can!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
