karma: 0 | Marriott vs Mayan Palace places to stay???
I am trying to figure out still where my guests are going to stay. Has anyone stayed at the Mayan Palace PV or the Marriott Casamagna I am getting married at the Mayan...but I didn't check out the rooms when I was there. I was so focused on the wedding ceremony.
I would appreciate any reviews...I am debating between the two hotels...the prices are really similar. The Marriott is a little cheaper.
Thanks,
Amy R.

Amy, I stayed once in Marriot Casamagna and its a beautiful hotel, with excellent service, its very close to the Mayan and I think with much better to offer than Mayan and others in the Marina.
My WC told me the that from the Marina hotels he recommends first the Westin and then the Marriot been followed by the rest of them.....

Thank you Edna...I am just debating if we should pay more to stay at the Mayan because we are getting married there.
Also...if I go with the Mayan...my guests will have to pay the hotel directly...I am worried about the costs they will be charged on their credit card to change dollars to pesos.
Have you noticed any costs to your credit card when you used it in Mexico

My guests and I will be staying at the Marriott... it's beautiful and in a perfect location (near the marina - our wedding will be at Las Caletas).
However... I'm having a really hard time getting the Marriott to communicate with me regularly. Every time I turn around, they have passed my account to someone new. First I emailed Patricia Haro, then I talked on the phone once and emailed once with Marcela Tellez. Next they had me on the phones with someone in the U.S. - Debi Cannon (and a couple times with someone in Debi's office). She passed my account to Valeria. Now it's Rosario. We don't even have a contract yet and I'm on my fifth contact person. It's a bit frustrating. I'm not a crazy, high maintenance bridezilla. I just want a block of rooms, and a hospitality suite the night before the wedding with a cash bar and a veggie tray. For goodness sake... this shouldn't be that difficult.
If I don't have a contract soon I am going to have to look elsewhere... I'll keep you posted about how it goes.
Sarah

I plan on getting married at the Mayan and staying at the Westin. If your guests don't consume a lot of beverages (mine probably won't) then a non-AI could work. Since I've told my guests about the switch from an AI to a non-AI I've been pleasantly surprised by many of their reactions - they love that they won't be "held down" at the hotel and can get out to explore more restaurant wise.
Sorry I got off your subject a little bit
If it's strictly between the Mayan and Marriott I would stay at the Marriott because I've read not so good reviews about the rooms at the Mayan on Trip Advisor.
Hope this helps! :)

I would say the Marriott based on how much my brother loved it when he stayed there. Oh, and the restaurant owner who set up my WD said the Marriott is the nicest all around hotel in PV(location, service, food, quality of rooms, etc.) I didn't stay there though.
