karma: 2 | Local Eight and La Panga Antigua Hi girls,
Have any of you eaten at or better yet had your reception at either of these two restaurants? Both look so beautiful!

Hey Amanda - I have eaten at both restaurants & they are both amazing in their own ways.
I believe Janet had her welcome dinner at La Panga - see her review. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ng-review.html |

And here is some more La Panga info http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...estaurant.html
Local Eight is relatively new on the scene compared to La Panga. When we ate there, the owner was there & was so chatty - he's very interesting. The food at Local Eight is termed "global cuisine" while La Panga would definitely be more mexican cuisine. I think they each have fantastic ambience. Have you looked at the Local Eight website?

I have eaten at both. Local Eight we had dinner with both immediate families one night. Very good food, very cool atmosphere. I would totally have a party there. La Panga I loved as well, much bigger and better for a big party though. Both are pricey! La Panga has a great patio area (big) that is perfect for private events. For Local Eight you'd probably have to rent out the whole place or section off half of it or something?

karma: 2 | Re: Local Eight and La Panga Antigua Thank you girls. Yep, I checked out both websites a few times. I emailed both places to get info and only heard back from Local Eight. They are willing to let my fiance and I come in while they are closed for two weeks in September to eat and check it out during our site visit. I thought that was pretty cool. I'll let you guys know how it goes!
For those who have been there...what is the area like around the restaurants? Is it a nice part of town or kinda sketchy? I want my guests to feel safe.

La Panga is right downtown, across the street from the Catholic church. Lots of people around at all times, I always felt safe. Local Eight is near downtown, but not in it. Quieter. Less foot traffic, but I felt plenty safe. Honestly, I never felt unsafe in Cabo and I spent 2 weeks there, several nights eating in San Jose. Granted, I live in downtown Washington DC....

Ok, very cool. I've been to Cabo twice now but have never ventured into San Jose. I guess I just never knew it was a tourist town. There were a couple times in downtown Cabo when I felt unsafe but it was pretty late at night and we were walking back to the Finesterra Hotel.

I absoutely loved San Jose more than Cabo San Lucas, but that's just more "me" - it's still kinda grimy and dirty in places, but I guess I just found it more charming.

Thanks, Janet! Yeah, I've heard from several people that "you haven't experienced Los Cabos if you haven't been to San Jose". I'm excited to check it our on our site visit in Sept. It's too bad that the two towns are so far way from eachother. It makes for a difficult decision when figuring out where to stay. I know many of our guests will enjoy Cabo San Lucas for it's nightlife.
