Jamaica Riu Brides

Since I know there are at least three of us on here... I thought it would be fun to have a thread where we can all talk about what our plans are! What have you reserved so far? What are you doing for reception?

 

We booked the Royal Wedding Package. We added the steel drum band for 1 hour during & after ceremony; rented the disco for 2 hrs with DJ & Open Bar and are doing the seim-private dinner. We still need to decide if we will have the champagne toast & hours d'ourves after the ceremony.

Hi, We are also getting married at the Riu. Oct 12 2007. This will be our 2nd trip back to this resort I just loved it the last time we were there. I know a few other brides have complained about Chandlyn, but she has always answered all my questions within 24-48 hours when I have contacted her. Iam really excited and cant wait! Patty

Hi, We are having our ceremony on the beach with the reception at the steak house. I rented the disco for 2 hours but I am thinking of canceling that because on Friday nights they have the beach party and thats so much fun!! I thought that after dinner we could just go right to the beach and party there for free...lol At 1st I thought we were going to have a bigger group with us,(now we have about 20 )so I thought the disco would work out great, but certain family members are protesting and not going to attend because they feel we should be married right here at home in our own community. I will wait allitle bit before I cancel though just to make sure. We also got the royal package. Do you happen to know how many pictures that includes? Do you happen to know how to get the ticker to work. I tryed copying into my signature line but its not working. Patty

Is your beach ceremony going to be an arch, or in the beach gazebo? I also rented the disco for 2 hours - didn't know about beach party (we're also getting married on a Friday night). Then again, my fiance & his friends are all breakdancers so I think we're locked into the disco just for their dancing! :) How long does the beach party go until?? The Royal Package includes 12 pictures and album & CD.

Hi I think we are going to use the new gazebo. But I am not sure about that I will decide on that when we see it. The last time we were there they didnt have the gazebo built yet. If I remember right the beach party is over by 10 or 11. It wasnt to late. I finally got my ticker to work yayyyyy...lol

Hey Ladies,

 

I also booked the Royal Package and booked the Plantation for 4 hrs but I think I am going to change that and book the Plantation for 2 hrs and do the disco thing for 2 hrs. Is the open bar included in the disco price of $250?

 

I was also thinking about having my wedding off site through tropical weddings. I am waiting for the coordinator to get back to me with prices.

 

Either way it goes I am still staying at the RIU

Hi The open bar is included in the 250.00 for 2 hours at the disco. Make sure you bring your own special music for the DJ to play. The weddings are located on the beach right outside of the "JR SUITE" side. Right behind the pool there are steps leading down to the beach and thats right where the weddings take place. The brides walk down those steps right into the sandy aisle..lol The garden gazebo that you have a choice of also is by the other pool by the standard rooms. closer to the middle of the horseshoe.

I just looked at the map that you posted and the steps down to the beach are right behind the bar area of the pool its kinda shaded white in the picture. a lot of people hang around up thereat the bar to watch the weddings. I was among them....lol But thats where we choose.
