Passport Hell, part II (LONG)

So to sum up my previous posts about passport problems, about 3 weeks ago I called for 3 days straight trying to get ahold of the passport people on a status of my passport, well there computers were down so it took me forever to finally get ahold of someone, then once I do they end up telling my the spelling of my last name was wrong, and they fixed it in their computer. Fast forward a week later, passport comes in, last name is correct but my DOB is wrong (I was 60) So after spending countless hours on the phone again, I made an appointment for drive to Chicago to have the fix it, they told me over the phone I only needed my passport and birth certificate & I made my appointment for 10:30. Fast forward to yesterday. Cain and I leave the house at 6:00am to drive to chicago, we arrived 15 minutes early for our appointment. We go to the 2nd floor where one guy tell us to go to the 18th floor then another guy walks up to us, asked to see all our stuff, then tells us we need another possport photo and to come back when we have it. So I tried to tell this jerk about the appointment and he throws that paperwork in my hands and said come back when you have your photo, so we walk to a passport photo place pay 32.00 freaking dollars for another photo and come back (it's now 10:35) and he tells us to now sit in a waiting room with over 200 people, I try to tell him again that I was told over the phone to go straight to the 18th floor because I have an appointment. SO he continued to be an ass, so I sat down about ready to blow up, then I look at the other guy and he's motioning me to go upstairs. So I get up and start walking out with Cain, the Dick head FOLLOWS US. and starts questioning us where were going. I tell him I'm getting a freaking drink and to back off, he starts lecturing us that if we plan on leaving to give him back the ticket number he gave us. At this point I was about to slug him, so Cain walked back to the waiting room, and once he was gone I made a mad dash for the elevators. I make it upstairs and tell them I have an appointment and they say ok stand in the back of the line (about 20 deep) in the mean time I try to call Cain to tell him I'm upstairs and another guy yells out NO CELL PHONE USE OR YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE. I guess Cain tried calling me as well and they yelled at him downstairs too. So eventually he just leaves and comes looking for me because he assumed I was upstairs. So were standing in line for about 20 minutes and the Mother F-er was there looking for us, but we hide behind another couple and he ended up leaving. We make it inside and go to a window they confirm our appointment and give us a number where we had to wait again with about 40 other people. So as were walking to our seats and sit down the MOFO was back and started yelling at us in front of everyone, saying we cut in front of everyone and that he wasn't going to let us have our passports, I yell back that I had an appointment, they confirmed it and that we were trying to tell him this all along. He then walks away and starts talking to the people behind the counter.. I'm two seconds away from hitting him, I stress beyond control, I have hives all over my body from the stress.. I was seriously about to loose it. Cain ends up getting up and talking to him (hes the calm one) and comes back and talks the guy into letting us stay. Apperent this so called expert has only been doing passports for 2 1/2 MONTHS and thinks he knows all. OMG did I mention I wanted to hit him so bad

So around 2:00 we finally get to the counter again and get our stuff taken care of and they tell us my passport will be ready for pick up at 3:00 so we kill time in Chicago, grab some food (I have low blood suger, and I was about to faint from not eating since 7:00 in the morning) we come back at 3:00 and have to wait again for over an hour for the passport. BUT we now have it and it's right and WE CAN NOW GO TO CABO TO GET MARRIED.. and arrive home at 10:30.. I'm sooo tired...

End of passport hell..

Oh my gawd. The nerve of people when they get a little "power." I feel for you and I am so glad that end result is you with your passport. We are one week away from leaving and my FI doesn't have his yet! Freaking out too! It makes me so angry that it seems like we are helpless in aspects like this...Isn't this what our tax dollars help with? They treat us like we are deliquents, not citizens! We are at their mercy and pretty much have to bend over and take it....it isn't right.
I'm sorry you had to go through that!

what a jerk-at least you finally got it, I can't believe they are so screwed up-this will be a great story for when I teach about the Bureacracy next year!

I would have cussed him out cleaned him up and cussed him out again. I have little patience for adults and Lawrence has no patience so he would have gotten it from both sides.

Glad that all is well and now you CAN GETT MARRIED YEAHHHHHHHH

I am so sorry to hear about your drama. The passport offices are a complete clusterf*ck from what I have heard. My SIL stood in line ALL day the day before she left for her passport and they wanted her to come back the next morning (her flight left at noon and they wanted her to swing on by the pp office on her way to the apt) she told them HELL NO.

seriously I don't know what their problem is but it sucks. sorry.

Wow what a PITA!!! I'm so sorry you had to deal with that A$$!! That's hilarious that he kept coming to look for you guys. I would have totally hid behind someone too! LMAO!

So happy you have it and you can get married!!

Wow Tammy! What a day!!! So glad you have it now!

My FI doesn't have his yet. His mom got hers last week, and Kevin's was sent about 2 weeks after hers.

My brother just had a baby last week (who's going to Mexico), and my brother doesn't have his yet. Needless to say, they better be working on getting those 2 this week!

Yikes tammy, you sure got my blood boilig too. That guy is an ass. Who did he think he was? Geeze, I don't get why he picked on you out of the hundreds of people there.

Thank god that's over and done with and you can prepare for cabo now :) And i love the new siggy pic you two are so friggin cute!!!

Hahaha! What a story!!

Glad it's finally straightened out though... and good job containing your urge to hit him. He sounds like an ass. I would have been in jail right now for assualt if that was me!
