My WC emailed me this morning and told me not to worry. I wasn't too concerned anyways since we are bringing our own liquor and had a good feeling the hotel wouldn't refuse to serve us.

If it is an election day then yes most establishments that serve alcohol will not be serving. BUT this applies only to MEXICANS. As you will be staying in a resort it is a different matter all toghether THEY can sell alcohol to foreign guests.
