Apparently Isla Mujeres hasn't recovered from the hurricanes yet so it's not as nice now as it used to be But the snorkelling is still supposed to be amazing...

Same with Cozumel

The Chichen Itza ruins are definitely worth the trek out there. If you're afraid of heights, don't climb up the pyramid! The climb down is more challenging than the climb up. Bring plenty of sunscreen and your camera. I was there in 2002 and wouldn't mind going again. Don't know if they're still there, but when I went, there was a guy at the entrance that would put any date you want in a Mayan calendar format. I put in my order going in and it was ready by the time I left.

yes, we're definetly doing chichen itza, I think we'll do it while our daughter is still there, maybe plan a group trip for everyone coming down. Steve loves to travel and to see things, so this is right up his alley.

I don't know if I understand what the mayan calendar is, could you explain? sounds cool

Hey Jill,

I know it's not for everyone but, my FI and I went scuba diving when we were in Cozumel about 2 yrs ago and I have to say it is absolutely breathtaking!!!!! We are deffinitely going again when we'll be there for the wedding and taking my dad, brother (maybe, he'll be 13 YO), BFs hubby, FIs brother, etc. Cozumel is about a 40 min ferry ride from Cancun. The reefs are unbelieveable!!!!!

I am actually thinking of getting us certified so that we can go deeper. It might be my wedding present to my FI. We'll take the classes here and then do our open water dives while we're at our wedding. How cool would that be?

sabina, that sounds really cool! I've always wanted to get certified in scuba, but at the same time, it really scares me! that would be a great present for your FI!

It's not scary at all! You have to take that statement with a grail of salt b/c i'm a nut! and I mean that in a great way :) I, and by I, I mean my FI and I:) am a skiier (always with the guys on double diamonds), we have gone sky diving, hot air balooning, scuba diving, snorkeling, we have a motorcycle license (just have to caught up enough $$$$ for 2 bikes:) and the list goes on. But, like I said, it's not scary at all, it's really very awesome!!!!!!

I think if I saw a shark I'd freak!! You're more daring then me, although I'd like to try skydiving & I would definetly do a hot air balloon ride. FI has a harley and I'm petrified to go on it. (he also dropped me off the back of a snowmobile going 60, so I'm a little gun shy)

FI is selling his harley so we can pay for some of the wedding, so I won't have to worry about riding one for awhile, lol!

That's my thing, I'm too much of a control freak to get on the back of anyone's motorcycle! That's why I said, 2 bikes! :) FI knows that he will not get one until we can get 2:) and I like it that way LOL

Sounds like you guys would enjoy cave diving down in the Riviera Maya. I cant do scuba due to an inner ear disorder, but if I could, I would be exploring the underwater caves in a second.
