My DIY centerpieces, fans & custom made capiz shell flower candle holders!

I've been meaning to post some of my decor, but with the swine flu drama... you know how the story goes. Well swine or no swine, I'm continuing to plan my wedding regardless and so I wanted to share some pics of my DIY centerpieces and fans, and my flower candle holders.

We are planning on having 8 to 10 round tables plus a sweetheart table at our reception, so having fresh flower centerpieces was gonna be a nightmare expense. Instead I bought some silk/artifical flowers from We Offer Silk Flowers, Floral Supplies and Silk Wedding Flowers, and added one more flower and some palm leaves from a local flower warehouse where I also got the plastic (looks like glass) vases which will be filled with sand to hold the flowers. For 10 centerpieces it cost us about $170, which we thought was worth it since we get to keep em forever, and they match our colors perfectly – ivory, canary yellow, latte brown, red, and terracotta/orange.

Flowers used are cymbidium orchids, lilies, amaryllis, calla, the brownish cactus looking flower (sorry I’m a dork), and two different type of palm leaves. FI’s mom’s wonderfully creative florist friend put them together for us

For fans, I ordered them from Oriental Trading Company and while I absolutely LOVED the look of putting individual flowers on them, I wanted to try something different and also cut down on costs since we are making 100 of these. So we bought these flower shells from www.ailanakai.com along with the little round shell dÃ©cor in yellow and red to match our colors, and the solo palm leaf. They turned out pretty cute and once again evoked our “tropical/natural beauty” theme. We will also be adding our personalized monogram tag to these on the handle.

Lastly….one of my absolute favorites for our wedding One of my aunts owns a shell based jewelry manufacturing company in the Philippines and she wanted to give us something for our wedding. I had seen the capiz flower candle holders before and asked if she could have her design team make us some combining all of our colors. They made us 4 different designs/styles and after we picked our favorite she had 40 of em made for us and 2 big ones for our sweetheart table FREE, which was the best!

When I first saw em I cried they were better than I imagined. She had them shipped from the Philippines and personally delivered them to me from Vegas (where she lives). There will be 4 per table around the centerpieces, and the two huge ones for our sweetheart table. I LOVE how the colors light up when the candle is lit.
