What wedding anniversary date are you using??

Recommended Posts

It sounds like a lot of girls (myself included) are getting legally married before they go on their DW - so I ask - what date is your anniversary date?? Your legal date or your wedding ceremony date?

I feel like our "legal" marriage and the date on our marriage certificate doesn't feel like my "real" wedding day. It was kinda just a formality. But I don't know, because legally, my wedding date is December 21,2008.

What are your opinions on this? What are you going to do? confused.gif

I feel like someone has posted this question before but I can't seem to locate it. I'm going to use my ceremony date as my wedding anniversary. It's really the date that means more to us since we will be surrounded by close friends and family. My FI and I plan on making it legal about 2 weeks before our ceremony date.

I think your situation is different though since you are already legally married but won't be having your ceremony until November. Maybe you can celebrate your wedding anniversary on your ceremony date, but also do a tiny celebration on your legal day?

I think it might be a lot to put off your anniversary for a year, but it's up to you. I would just feel a little ripped of 50 years down the road, when instead of a 50th, you were having a 49th! I suppose you could compromise and make your anniversary November 28th 2009. Then you'd be celebrating the more special day, but it would be closer to the right number of years :)

We got legally married on August 8th, 2008. We had decided since were getting legally married before our wedding that we would do it earlier so I could have health insurance since I don't work. We then decided 08/08/08 was fun, and it just so happens that we are getting married (mexico ceremony) August 8th, so really our ceremony will be our one year anniversary! So we don't have to worry about what day

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
