Grand Oasis Riviera Maya Wedding was great! *PICS added post #4*

Recommended Posts

If anyone is considering their wedding at the Grand Oasis Riviera Maya, I thought it was great. We chose this resort because of the "Complimentary Wedding Package" and the great beach.

Everything went perfect. The WC was just as bad as any other resort in responding to emails however, it didn't matter. She took care of everything in the 1 hour meeting on our 2nd day.

We had our blood tests done at the same time as the meeting in the lobby of the resort. It was fine. We chose some last minute things like appys for after the ceremony, the cake and flowers. My bouquet was amazing!! My favorite thing of all. So much, I carried it all the way home on the plane (customs didn't care). The archway from the ceremony was put on our dinner table and then we had it in our room for the rest of the trip. We gave it to an elderly couple when we left. We could smell the flowers outside of our room before we opened the door!! It was great.

I didn't have a whole lot of "stuff" like decor so the whole process was easy. I'm sure she would have been more than happy to help with anything though.

The hair/make up lady came to our room to do hair and make up. My make up was fantastic, I loved it and she did a good job of my hair but it wasn't what I was hoping for so it was just OK. The lady stayed until after the ceremony to touch of my make up as well, I thought that was very nice. The resort photographer - Humberto Castilla -was AWESOME. The pictures were great, he was fun and made us feel instantly comfortable and the best part was, we went home with the photos in a very nice album and CD. They were delivered the NEXT day!! He was great.

The ceremony was short and sweet. Translated by the assistant WC. We each gave our Mom's a single flower with a starfish charm attached at the end of the ceremony. I gave my husbands Mom one and he gave my Mom hers. The water works were unreal!

Then we had a quick first dance right then and there. My husband found "Kiss the Girl" instrumental string version from Little Mermaid for the dance.

Then we had appys in the lounge bar before dinner in Dos Lunas - a really good restaurant. The staff in there was so fun and they remembered a few little things about us from a previous visit that made our reception that much more special. Wilber was his name.

Over all, I was thrilled with everything and the resort. There are some bad reviews about it but we can't for the life of us understand why people would say anything bad. WE HAD THE BEST TIME!!

Any questions, I'm more than happy to answer them, just send me a pm. Don't have a clue how to put pictures up!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
