I Think My Invitations are Finally Done! What do you think?

Recommended Posts

Wow, it seems like this was the weekend for DIY projects! Ann & I must have been on the same wavelength or something...lol

Anyway, here they are at long last. I seriously need to get these out in the mail this week, so I'm hoping FI will like them when I show him tonight. I'm a little undecided about the ribbon on the front, but everything else I'm pretty set on. Nonetheless, please leave honest feedback and comments as I've only completed one and am still able to make changes! I have all the paper cut out and ready to go, so if this passes FI's inspection and you all think it looks ok it will be very simple to assemble and get in the mail...

Thanks to Christa for the inspiration and templates- you're a lifesaver Christa!

The pictures don't show the colors very well, so just in case you can't tell, it is all metallic paper- onyx metallic pocketfold invitation from cardsandpockets.com. I bought metallic cardstock from Discount Wedding Invitations, Vellum Paper, Vellum Envelopes, Card Stock Source - Paperandmore.com and cut my own mat, invitation backing, and insert cards. The metallic mat is crimson metallic, the invitation backing and insert cards are champagne metallic and everything is printed on platinum metallic vellum and attached with miniature silver brads. The envelopes they will be mailed in are champagne metallic and the response envelopes are crimson metallic. I'm hoping to get into a calligraphy class at Michael's this Saturday so i can address them a little fancier!

The part I'm not sure about is the ribbon. I had the hardest time finding something to match. I really wanted red, but have exhausted every craft store in Lansing trying to find something that would work. Finally, I decided to go with Ivory metallic wired ribbon from Hobby Lobby. I have folded the ribbon over and made a band using three miniature silver brads. I didn't like the way it looked tied at all, but if anyone has any suggestions of how to do something different or better with the ribbon on the outside I'd love to hear it!

Edited to add: Here's what I ended up doing for the front...

wow - those came out GREAT! i love them - not sure i'd change anything! and i love the look of the brads - it just adds a nice finished touch. i might actually fine tune mine based on some of the details you have in your invites!

as for the ribbon - i think it looks great. the only thing i'd try is maybe folding the edge of the ribbon so it looks more "finished" but not sure you really need to do that, or if it would look any better.

awesome job!

they look great. I like all the brads and the sparkly look to the paper. and the ribbon in front is great. we have a band going around ours and there is a little circular thing with our monogram on it to cover the place where the two ends meet? could you do something like that if you are still unsure about the brads.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
