Dreams Cabo Questions

Ok for the life of me I can't find the thread that was started for all the Dreams Cabo brides, so I'm posting here. (Sorry). I have some questions that I hope everyone can help me with:

1. Does Dreams allow outside cakes? My FI and I don't like cake so we wanted to get cupcakes but I don't know if they allow outside vendors for cake. If they do, does anyone know if there is a cake cutting fee?

2. When you do a room block how much do you have to put down? I know that once people start booking rooms they will use the money towards your other stuff but I was wondering, if you block too many rooms and people don't book and use the room, do you lose your money? Or if you put down more money than you end up using towards your fee at Dreams will they refund you the money?

3. I know I have over a year to think about this but I was wondering. I know a lot of people bought water bottles for their OOT bags. Do you think I should even bother buying water bottles for OOT bags if the Dreams provides the guests with bottled water in their fridges anyway?

4. Does anyone know if the WC at dreams has aisle runners to rent? If so do you know how much they cost?

Thank you for all your help.

hi glenda! here are my answers:

1) we are bringing in an outside cake (got it thru jennifer hatton cakes in cabo - delicious!). she charges for the cake but dreams is not charging us. we got dreams to reduce the price of our reception dinner by $2 since we are eliminating the dessert course and bringing in our own.

2) i got my room block thru tammy host. she can help you with this question - depends on how many rooms you get and the going rate.

3) we are doing OOT bags but withOUT water. there is bottled water in the room and also you can get it from any bar / restaurant around the premises.

4) i think maye did quote me for an aisle runner, i will look up the price for you. we are having our ceremony on the sand with rose petals as our runner.

hope this helps!!!

Glenda,

I had the same question about the isle runner.. I haven't gotten that far on planning, but saw somewhere, someone had colored sand (my ceremony is on the beach). I thought that would be cool, but heavy to transport.

How would an isle runner on the sand work? wouldn't the fabric just get tangled under your feet, ala a beach towel?

Glenda, you might ask Dreams if they can do cupcakes for you instead of cake. I'm having them do my cake because it will be much cheaper (we're small so we'll only end up spending about $50 for the cake for the 8 or so people over the 10 limit). I don't remember how big your wedding is, so it might be cheaper to have Dreams do them. When I was talking to Mariana, she told me to e-mail pictures of what I wanted and she'd see if they can do it, so you never know, maybe they can do cupcakes too!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
