Grand Riviera Princess & Grand Sunset Princess

Recommended Posts

Hello, my fiance and I are planning our wedding for Nov 2009 and are really close to considering the Grand Riviera Princess. Is anyone else on here planning a wedding at the Grand Riviera Princess and have any feed back for me? I know that the sister resort is the Grand Sunset and it is the older resort (not by much as I think they were built one after another) and I am wondering if it is the same wedding coordinator for both as I have been reading the thread on here for the Grand Sunset.

I have also been reading some of the trip advisor reviews on the Grand Riviera and I am a little concerned but I know you can not take them 100% as everyone has their own perceptions on how a resort should be.

Any tips or info on this resort would be greatly appreciated.

Hi my name is Muriel and my fiance and I are still maybe planning on having our wedding in November 2009 at the Dreams Tulum but my wedding planner said this might be a good bet as well. Honestly I don't know much about it as of yet but I must say that so far I haven't seen much posted. Let me know if you have any luck because I am really curious as well.

Hi!

I did a lot of research and looked into this Grand Riviera Princess and Grand Sunset. Basically it is two resorts in one.

The Grand Sunset was built first and then the Grand Riviera right after.

Here ar the Reviews for each to check out on Trip advisor:

Grand Riviera (you may have to copy and paste below link in your browser)

Grand Riviera Maya Princess (Puerto Juarez, Yucatan Peninsula) - Hotel Reviews - TripAdvisor

Grand Sunset: (you may have to copy and paste below link in your broweser)

Grand Sunset Princess (Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya) - Hotel Reviews - TripAdvisor

I know these resorts due to being so new they have some issues with service and other areas with this resort.

It is the same wedding coordinator for both resorts. Here is her contact:

My fiance and I have decided against getting married at this resort. We have travelled a lot and tend to be on the picky side as some may call it. We investigated in other resorts and for the dollar value for our Guest and to still be married on a nice resort and beach we have went with the Grand Palladium Riviera (about 80 min South of Cancun). It is a 5 star. You stay and play at all 4. You get privelages to Grand Palladium White Sands, Grand Palladium Kantenah and Grand Palladium Colonial (which are all 5 stars as well). You have unlimited alacartes you just show up and get a beeper when your table is ready. They do have a Royal Section which has extra' (depends if those extras even interest you as there are some perks). Our wedding is booked for November 2009.

The wedding coordinators Rioco and Erika are amazing there!! No sooner you send them an email they get back to you. I had my wedding date and time confirmed with them (as they have to go to the Mexico city hall to book a judge to marry you and get a time) within 8 hours. They have great reviews for weddings at these resorts as they handle all 4 resorts at the Palladium for weddings. Max weddings is 2 a day (which is very nice!!).

Also, there is a new resort that opened up called Sensatori AZUL - very nice but modern looking. Not many reviews on it as it just opened this month but the wedding specialist that we used for destination weddings just got back from there and said it was amazing!! It is part of the new Karisma resorts. The price we got back was 1645.00 per person but we thought that was too high of a price for our guest and went with the lower price for the Grand Palladium Riviera.

So sorry for the long review but I thought I would send you as much information as possible.

The Grand Sunset and The Grand Riviera do look very nice for being new and all but read over the reviews and see if they suit you and your fiance.

Good Luck!

I have recently visited Grand Riviera Princess and it is amazing.. the service has gotten better since it opened naturally. The GAzebo is the nicest I have seen yet for a resort and the wedding is located in a semi private locate( as good as it gets). Most of the other resorts put you smack in the middle.

Did you end up confirming with Princess? When in November is your wedding? I am getting married NOvember 27th?

Congratulations on your wedding date!!

We are booked in with the Grand Palladium Rivieria and our wedding date is Nov 19,2009. All our invitations have gone out now and it is just up to our guest to put the deposits down. The hardest part was trying to go through all the resorts and get a good price for our guests.

I can not get over how many weddings are taking place this November.

Have you found a photographer yet? I am looking into that now.

I am getting married at the Grand Riviera Princess November 14th! I think November is a great month to get married in the Carribean. By then huricane season is pretty much over so we should get some great weather! I really liked the pictures I've seen of the Gazebo and everyone who has been there has said such great things about it. Right now we are booked for the arch on the beach because the whole reason why we're going away is to get married barefoot in the sand. But who knows maybe when we get there and see the gazebo we'll change our minds:) Good luck in all your planning!

Parissa, did you book your trip yet? When are you arriving? We'll be there until the 20th and then we're headed over to Cozumel for our honeymoon.

Hi Ladies,

I'm trying to book my wedding date for November 19, 2009 at the Grand Sunset Princess and just waiting for a reply from the wedding coordinator so that I can start booking everything else...photography, rooms etc. Just curious; how long did it typically take you guys to get replies back?

I stayed at the Riviera Princess in October and it was a beautiful resort. We met with the WC there and she was very nice. The only reason we decided against this resort was because we want adults only. We had upgraded to Platinum and were annoyed by the parents that thought it was ok for their loud kids to play in the small exclusive pool instead of the 5 other bigger pools.

Other than that the resort was great and there were quite a few weddings during our stay so it must be good. I did get an information package for their weddings so if you need any info from there I'm more than happy to pass along what I can.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
