I decided to combine my bridal luncheon with my bridal shower and do a lunch cruise in New York City. I did this because there would only be about 13 people and I wanted to thank everybody for coming to the wedding as well as their support over the years. I also decided to host it and plan it because my bridal party pretty much fell apart because 4 ladies (2 of my sisters, 2 of my fiance's sisters) unexpedectly had babies who are all under 1 years old,so they kind of lost interest in the wedding . Of the two remaining ladies in my bridal party, one lives very far away , and my matron of honor is overwhelmed by work and home issues and really does not have time to plan anything. She will only be able to handle the bacheorlerette party. My mother is definately not the party planner type. So I said that I would turn it into a thank you brunch since I do not want gifts at my shower and I told people that if they felt they had to bring a gift, then they should bring me a family recipe so I could start a cookbook.
Was it wrong of me to completely take over?

Not at all. I think it's nice of you, but with that said, just make sure you talk to them first. Maybe planning something for you would be a good way for them to not think about their own home stuff that is going on.

Thank you Tammy. I will definately talk to them. I have totally left the bacheorlrette party in their hands which I pushed back to July because all of the orginal bridal party will be in NY for my at home reception. So I figure it will give them more time to plan things since it seems that the wedding kind of crept up on them since it is only 3 months away. I know that it crept up on my matron of honor becuase she completely forgot to order her dress last month when she had said that she would which is not like her because she is very organized. But I am just happy that she will be able to come to Jamaica for the wedding and if I had it my way I would not even have dresses. But my fiance wants matching dresses and suits so I have to remember it is his wedding too and he has a say ,well sorta :).

Was it wrong of me to completely take over? | Honestly I think is is admirable! A close friend of mine at work is a Bride's Maid in her friends wedding and while loves her friend and goes to all the various things needed is just not into it. I know it sounds stupid but I can respect that. She's been a bride's maid in about 4 weddings and while she remains single everyone she knows (me included) is getting engaged and married... She's going to plan the bachelorette party (wine tasting) but talking to her has sort of given me a better idea of how sometimes people just dont' have the time, energy or quite honestly the money to do all the things expected of them!
I think your friends and family will appreciate you organizing the event and your insistence on no gifts!

Thank you Kashmira for your feedback. I feel much better that I have had feedback from you guys .I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being a micromanaging bridezilla. I want to keep things simple because my theme these days is "Everythings Irie". :)
