DIY - will you be my unofficial bridesmaid - letter and picture frame

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone - I just wanted to share with you my idea and how to for asking my girls to be my "unofficial bridesmaids". I am getting married in a very small catholic church so I am just going to have my sister represent me and also didn't want to put the financial burden on my girl friends with all the added expenses of being in my wedding - being that they are already shelling out for the flight and resort. But I do want them to be a part of everything so I asked them to be UN-official BM ....

I first picked whom I was going to ask.... then looked through my albums and made a copy of the best/funniest/most memorable photo of me and them that I was planning on putting in a frame.

Then I went to Micheal's and bought:

9 wooden picture frames - $1 each!!

9 wooden "FRIEND" blocks - $1 each

1 bottle of Purple Tempera Paint - $3

1 jar of teal sparkles/glitter - $3

1 mixed bag of sponge brushes - $2

1 bottle of wood glue - $3

I also went to staples and bought 9 purple folders - 10cents each!.

I then went onto Microsoft Word and typed up a letter individually to each of them with all the mushy stuff of how much their friendship means to me and how I want them to be a part of the most memorable time in my life.

I printed out the letter - along with a Top 10 list of "Why they should be my Bridesmaids" see attached - and put in the folder.

I then painted the frames purple - all 9 of them took less then 45 minutes - and they dry really quick.

Then I sprayed them with Aerosol Hairspray and quickly sprinkled the glitter on them. (do each 1 by 1, the hairspray sets quickly)

I then took Gorilla wooden glue and glued on the "FRIENDS" wooden block and let it dry .

They were all finished within 2.5 hours and I think they look great!!

TIP: cover the table with newspaper, and definately sit in front of a tv or put some music on!!

I then put everything in a bubble wrap envelop and mailed them to my girls ....

they were soo excited and so touched and thought it was soo creative!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
