Riu Santa Fe Review

Well girls, I have to say some many thanks to each and everyone of you for all of your help and support. Without you, I would not have made it. A BIG thank you to Tammy for this wonderful site.

I am not going to give grades because there are little things that didn't matter to me but may matter to some you. I will tell all, but for me I wouldn't have changed a thing. Everything was wonderful, fabulous and all the other amazing words you can use to describe it.

The Riu Santa Fe-

It is huge!!! If you have guest that cant do alot of walking this may not be the place for them. It is Handicape accessiable and we did see people in wheel chairs, but alot walking. We loved it. Our room was fabulous. We booked a oceanview room and end up getting a suite. My new hubby loved the ba day (sp?). (haha) The food was great and the staff was wonderful. Best all inclusive food I have ever had.

Wedding cooridinator-

Erika was wonderful from the begining stages. She always responded and got me a answer either way. Which I really appriciated. The Riu's wedding are not real elaborate so if you want extras you need to do it on your own. Everything they do is real realxed. Just so you know you can book two group dinner while you are there. (One other besides your reception)

Hair and Make up-

Suzanne Morel I cant give a high enough praise. They did a fantastic job. I did not get to meet her she was out sick the day of my wedding, but the girls did just fine with out her. This is one of the best things I spent extra on.

Flowers and Chuppah-

florentna, well they were beautiful. The flowers were supposed to be wrapped in tourquise ribbion, but came with white. No big deal. And I think they showed up at the resort at 11am when my wedding was at 5pm. So my flowers were alittle brown around the edges. No one new but me, so that was fine. The Chuppha was absolutly gorgous. They made the torqouise center for me. They did not have one before. The chuppah is the other expense I'm glad we did.

Music-

We put our music on a cd for them to play and they got the songs mixed up, but again no one noticed but me since I'm the one who put it together. So no biggie there either.

Reception-

We had it on the terrace of the steak house which was beautiful. We started around 7:30 and they did seat anyone else until 8:30 so it was really nice.

Cake-

We had them do our cake. We did a layer of chocolate and vanilla and was supposed to have terramasu center. Well the vanilla tasted like a tweenkie and the chocolate had a orange liqure taste. It was very pretty.

We had a wonderful day, and I have to say it is very emotional. If you want privacy you may not choose this resort. I did not mind it actually broke the ice. I was walking down a some lady yells out " you go girl". What can you do at that point but laugh. Up until that point there wasn't a dry eye in the group.

If you want to see some sneak pics they are on my photographers my space. He has 3,000 pics to go thru. This is a few he thru together for me. MySpace.com - The Wedding Photographer - 46 - Male - St Louis, US - www.myspace.com/fotou

Hi Kelly! Congratulations!!!!

Unfortunately, I am unable to view the pics....ahhh! I will have to take a peek at work.

I am getting married at the Santa Fe on May 9, 2009 and just wondering if you have any suggestions for me?? Should I bring more decorations for the dinner? Can we have speeches and dancing on the terrace?

Thank-you for mentioning a second group dinner is included so I can plan for that!!!!

Any suggestions and/or comments will be greatly appreciated!!

Thank-you for your review!!!!

I brought seashells and blue marbles for deco. And I ordered floating gerber daises for the tables. Actually I almost forgot. I got a bag of hot pink rose petals from the florist for free that we used.

You can do speeches, but we did not have a microphone. But we still could hear. We didn't do any dancing there, but the other tables were so far away I dont see why you couldn't. I would bring a ipod and docking station, because they dont have a sound system for you to use there.

As far as the second seating we used it as a farwell dinner to thank everyone for coming. She will make smaller size reservation for you thru out your stay if you want. But to be honest the buffet was better than some of the restraunts.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
