How to get 10% off airfare for all your guests on Alaska Airlines

Well this little gem fell in my lap through a very nice customer service rep at Alaska Airlines Group Sales Department...

I was trying to establish a discounted group rate for about 20+ of us but of course that means we're all flying out of the same airport at the same time. I mentioned it was for my wedding, and she suggested that I set up a "Meeting/Convention Fare" that would establish a 10% discount for every person flying to the same destination (for me Cancun) during a certain time period using a discount code. Departure city does not matter.

Technically you're supposed to have at least 10 people use the discount, but she says once they provide you with a code no one keeps track, it's just assummed you will hit that number. Also as a bonus, for every 40 passengers who use that code, you will get a tour conductor ticket (a free ticket to use domestic or international for up to a year) BUT you must provide them with all the ticket numbers so they can verify the 40.

Awesome deal, and with how expensive airfare is these days, it's definitely a great way to help everyone save!!! cheesy.gif

good to know! I just may try and establish the same deal with them too since Alaska doesn't serve all areas that I would need in the U.S. Thanks!!!

Thanks for the information! I actually worked with both American & Continental for my wedding airfare.

We ended up going with Continental because they only asked for $100.00 deposit per ticket. The remaining balance for each ticket does not have to be paid until 1 month before the departure. The $100.00 is put towards your ticket price.

-On American, the $100.00 is not put towards your ticket balance but is refunded after you depart.

My guests found the "group booking" to be very helpful because they can make payments towards their airfare rather than having to pay their ticket in full at the time of booking.

Thanks so much for this tip! I called Alaska today and they are totally hooking me up with the 10% discount. It was super, super easy! I just said I have a lot of people flying out of CA to Puerto Vallarta. They are going to give me a code, and my guests can use the code on any flight from any city. It's wonderful!

I want to add that I am also getting 5% off all American Airlines flights. Again, it was super easy. Just call group sales. Tell them you are having a wedding. They are giving me 5% off for a block of 20 days and I already have my promotional code. No deposits, no stings. They can choose their flight and book on line. They ask that you have a minimum of 10 people flying, but it's not monitored. It's not a lot, but I'm happy I can offer my family & friends even a small discount during these crappy economic times.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
