Crap - my wedding dress is the wrong color!!!

Recommended Posts

My wedding dress came in last week and I went to try it on on Saturday. When I put it on and stepped out in front of the mirrors I knew something was wrong because I wasn't teeming with excitement, but I couldn't figure out the problem until my sister said..."i didn't realize you ordered it in white". I'm all "huh? what are you talking abouthuh.gif". Turns out when I tried it on it was ivory, but i didn't realize it and ordered the WRONG COLOR! damn it damn it damn it!!!

I LOVE this dress, but I really wish it was ivory sad.gif Normally, I'd re-order, but it won't come in until the week before my wedding and it will need some alterations and I don't think I could deal with the stress of not having my wedding dress until RIGHT before we leave for Mexico. So, my options are:

- keep it in white and just get used to it

- buy the sample from the store that is 6 sizes too big and have it cleaned and altered

I cried a lot yesterday because I was so disappointed that I didn't LOVE my dress, but today I'm starting to feel like I shouldn't sweat the small stuff...except that I feel like my wedding dress isn't SMALL STUFF!!! The lace just looks so much more natural in ivory than bright white, KWIM?

What would you dohuh.gif

Oh - sorry I don't have any pics of me in the dress, but here it is on the model in ivory...not the shockingly bright white that I have sad.gif

Oh, that is such a pretty dress. I hear you on not wanting to wait until right before the wedding for the right color to arrive.

Honestly, I think you will look wonderful in the white dress, but it is all about how you feel. If the dress shop says they can do the alterations on the right color and it won't come out looking too much different than the dress in the right size, I say go for that.

Can they put a rush on it so that if you reorder in ivory it will come in a little sooner? You definitely want to be truly happy about your dress when you put it on on your wedding day. I also agree that maybe going back to try it on again might work. You may like it more the 2nd time around.

unfortunately this designer doesn't do rush orders...

i'm going to go back this weekend and try it on again and hope that i'm happier this time around. the bonus of having it in white is that i already have shoes and a veil to match courtesy of my sister and FSIL :)

i guess i'm just wondering if others have grown to love their dress after initially not being thrilled with it...?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
