Blubylen Salon

Has anyone actually had their hair or make up done here?

I have an appointment for a trial Hair & Make Up with Len, next Friday! It's going to cost me $120 USD. He seems very personable and fun via email!

If this is a bad choice please let me know ASAP (so I can cancel).

I've read about the salon throughout the forum, but I don't think I've actually seen an actual review.

Well I did it!! I went in and met with Len and his team!!

They were great!!! Lots of fun and he did a great job with my hair trial!

I was very skeptical because I have naturally curly hair (that I hate) and I always, always, always blow my hair out straight and then flat iron! Not to mention I have a lot of hair!

He had no problem working with my hair! I wish I had pictures to show (I know...can't believe I didn't take pictures). But he was running behind and we didn't even have time for my make up trial!

But I'm feeling very confident in his abilities! And cant wait to have him there for my wedding!

I will definitely post pics in May if anyone is interested!

I can however tell you that my hair and make up trial at the resort when terribly wrong! I hated it! And those pics.... I don't think anybody wants to see!

Yanell-

I was wondering, if you don't mind, after paying $120 for your trial. How much is it going to cost day of your wedding to get your hair and makeup done? Are they traveling out to your wedding site or will you have it done at the salon?

I am really interested in using Blu, but was wondering a few details.

I am also trying to find pictures of styles they have done in their salon and I am having troubles. Did you see any.

I can't believe we are getting married one day apart. As much as I can wait. I am also very excited.....

Kathy

Hi Kathy,

I apologize for the delay in replying to you. The month of Nov/Dec is very hectic for me at work + the holidays. I have been completely out of wedding mode.

But to answer your questions, when I actually visited the salon we spent so much time talking I only got through a hair trial (never saw the make up) and I ended up paying about $50 for the hair trial. Len took my hair out before I left the salon and I never took any pictures (big mistake) sad.gif

In regards to his fee, the plan was to have him and two others drive out to Careyes. And since it is such a great distance, he required a room + the cost of gas + fee for hair & make up.

As far as pictures of hair styles he's actually done, I hadn't actually seen any prior to my visit. But I feel he can do anything if you bring in pics.

I emailed him a month or two ago and never heard back.

Although I loved my hair trial, after much thought (and no response from him). I may go another route. I have a close friend that is a professional hair and make artist (who is actually going to my wedding) that I may have do my hair and make up. Or, I may fly someone out (since the costs may be comparable to what I would be paying Blu).

If you need anymore specifics let me know.

Best,

Yanell

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
